Father’s Alive In The Hood mission is to develop and nurture interpersonal relationships between children, parents, schools, institutions and communities by addressing fatherlessness while promoting a positive presence of Fatherhood and protection within families and communities.

Ohio Man Declared Innocent After 39 Years On Death Row, The Longest Wrongful Prison Sentence In U.S History
Sentenced to death at 18 for a crime he didn’t commit... he spent 39 years, 3 months, and 9 days in prison, the longest wrongful imprisonment in U.S. history to end in exoneration.
His name is Rickey Jackson.
It was 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio. A money order salesman named Harold Franks was robbed and shot on a street corner. Five days later, Rickey was in custody. Police had their eyewitness, a 12-year-old boy named Edward Vernon.
Detectives took Edward Vernon into a room and told him: since he was too young to go to jail, they would arrest his parents for perjury if he backed out. So he testified. He was 12 years old. He was terrified. And Rickey Jackson was sentenced to die.
Behind bars, Rickey held onto a small ember of hope. He read every book he could find in the prison library. He wrote letters begging journalists and filmmakers to look at his case. He refused to let the system break his spirit completely.
After decades, the now 53-year-old witness, Edward Vernon, finally told the truth: he had been coerced and threatened by detectives. The Ohio Innocence Project fought for justice, and Rickey walked free.
The Ohio Court of Claims awarded him $1 million, roughly $70 for every day he spent inside for a crime he did not commit.
