Near the end of last year, With Actions and in Truth was blessed to have received a partnership invitation from HanesBrand for their 2025 Hanes Sock Drive. Upon acceptance, we received an in-kind donation of 1,000 pairs of socks to distribute to those who are homeless or facing housing insecurity (i.e. living in shelters).

Throughout December 2025 and early last month, we were able to complete our distribution; to homeless individuals in midtown Manhattan and southeast Queens, and to a few Queens-based shelters. Per the latter, my contacts from 2020, 2021 and last year (the three years we partnered with Hanes) still worked there, and we completed distributions to those locations the afternoons of Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Unfortunately, one family shelter (I won’t name) was going through something of a personnel upheaval and had to pass. That truly saddened me, as they had a special place in my heart going back to 2016. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for us to be put in touch with a “replacement” family shelter at the beginning of the year.

Having done so privately, I would like to publicly thank HanesBrands, Inc. for the honor to partner with them for their 2025 Hanes Sock Drive. It is my hope that we can work with them again near the end of this year.

NOTE: As is our norm, I have always been uncomfortable taking photos of people who have the misfortune of living on the streets. As such, I did not include photos of those disbursements here.

Following a most successful sock drive last month, With Actions and in Truth again teamed with the Rochdale Village Community Center (Jamaica, NY); this time to have Rochdale residents prepare sandwich packages (sandwich, fruit, water) to distribute to the homeless and hungry. It is the third year we've collaborated in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the weekend that celebrates his birthday. There is a possibility we may do this again in February.

Roughly 15-20 volunteers came out this past Friday evening. We had a good "assembly line" going and prepped 269 packages in little over an hour. The packages were distributed throughout Queens yesterday (Saturday) morning / afternoon.

I again have to give a shout-out to RV Community Center Director, Julia Shaw and Admin. and Program Assistant Yolanda Brannon, who went above and beyond to put the call out for volunteers and pull everything together in little over a week.

With Actions and in Truth collaborated with the Rochdale Village Girl Scouts yesterday evening in the RV Community Center (Jamaica, NY) to make sandwich packages to feed the homeless and hungry. Some of the older kids and a few parents made and / or bagged the sandwiches, while the younger ones filled bags with water and fruit. Once we got the "assembly line" working well, they completed 241 packages in roughly an hour. The packages were distributed throughout Queens this morning.

We will probably collaborate again in the Fall.

This past Friday evening was the third date this year of With Actions and in Truth teaming with the Rochdale Village Community Center (Jamaica, NY) to have Rochdale residents prepare sandwich packages (sandwich, fruit, water) to distribute to the homeless and hungry. Nearly 30 people registered to volunteer at the March date before we closed it. However, only eight showed up. One was a returnee from February and two women brought their kids. Nevertheless, the small turnout did not deter us. Our "assembly line" got rolling about 6:40 PM. By the time this month's skeleton crew prepped and bagged 287 packages, the time was 7:45. The majority (243) of the packages were distributed throughout Queens yesterday (Saturday) morning / afternoon and the remaining 44 were distributed today.

I again have to give a shout-out to RV Community Center Director, Julia Shaw and Admin. and Program Assistant Yolanda Brannon, who went above and beyond to put the call out for volunteers, send out reminders, and pull everything together. By this time next week, we should have dates April, May, and June.

This past Friday evening was the second date this year of With Actions and in Truth teaming with the Rochdale Village Community Center (Jamaica, NY) to have Rochdale residents prepare sandwich packages (sandwich, fruit, water) to distribute to the homeless and hungry. We were initially concerned that the frigid weather would deter some of the volunteers from showing up, but there was no need to worry. The first volunteer through the door was something of a "veteran"; having pitched in last year when we did this during the weekend that celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. This time around, she brought two people with her and they quickly got the ball rolling. Everyone else fell in and we had a good "assembly line" going. Much to my astonishment, this team prepped 280 packages in roughly 40 minutes. The packages were distributed throughout Queens yesterday (Saturday) morning / afternoon.

I again have to give a shout-out to RV Community Center Director, Julia Shaw and Admin. and Program Assistant Yolanda Brannon, who went above and beyond to put the call out for volunteers and pull everything together. Volunteer slots for the March date have already filled up. However, we are looking to add dates for April, May, and June.

We immediately accepted and received an in-kind donation of 1,000 pairs of socks to distribute to those who are homeless or facing housing insecurity (i.e. living in shelters).

Throughout December 2024 and early January 2025, we were able to complete our distribution; to homeless individuals in southeast Queens and midtown Manhattan, and to a few Queens-based shelters. Per the latter, my contacts from 2020 and 2021 (the first years we partnered with Hanes) still worked there, and they remembered me. The balance of 110 men’s socks went to the Jamaica Community Partnership for their upcoming clothing distribution.

Having done so privately, I would like to publicly thank HanesBrands, Inc. for the honor to partner with them for their 2024 Hanes Sock Drive. I eagerly look forward to working with them again later this year.
