Thank you to Sphere Education Initiatives and Coleman Brit for bringing “Building Civil Discourse through Economics” to Mississippi! 40 Mississippi teachers had an amazing day of learning on how to guide students through important but difficult discussions related to economic issues in a nonpartisan way.

Yesterday we had such a great time in Yazoo City. It started with a visit to a classroom at Yazoo County High School where we were able to observe Nissan working with students in the area of workforce development. And guess what they talked about as part of this? Income generation possibilities, which guess what? This is a personal Finance standard. Then our next stop was a visit in a personal finance classroom taught by Ms. Yolanda Grayson, MTE, MTENT, MTPF. We had a blast working with students on what is a realistic budget for a young adult. We ended our trip with a visit to the Mississippi State University extension office where we met with Ms. Sharon Nettles that successfully implemented the Stock Market Game in her 4-H program and ended up taking a group of students to New York City this summer to celebrate their success. Great things are happening in Yazoo!
