Something needs to be said—and I am willing to speak to it.

Jackson is hurting. Families are grieving. Young men are dying. We cannot keep offering condolences, shaking our heads, and moving on until another family receives the same devastating call.

We must talk about the anger that grows before violence erupts, the conflicts that become retaliation, and our responsibility as fathers, mothers, mentors, pastors, churches, and community leaders to reach our young men before blood reaches the ground.

This Sunday, I am not coming to exploit anyone’s pain, blame grieving families, or speculate about circumstances we do not fully understand. I am coming to let God’s Word confront all of us.

God asked Cain:

“Where is Abel your brother?”

Cain responded:

“Am I my brother’s keeper?”

Jackson, that question is still before us.

Are we listening before anger explodes?

Are we mentoring before the mugshot?

Are we intervening before the funeral?

Are we teaching our young men that walking away is not weakness—and that manhood is measured not by how much fear you create, but by how much life you protect?

Something needs to be said, and I am willing to speak to it.

What started as a burden in my heart years ago is beginning to take shape as a movement dedicated to developing boys and men of color through mentorship, leadership development, brotherhood, and legacy.

This is just the beginning.

Our goal is bigger than social media followers. Our goal is stronger men, stronger families, stronger communities, and stronger generations.

We’re currently forming our inaugural Founding Cohort and will select only 25 participants across five leadership groups:

FOUNDING COHORT NOW FORMING

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about developing strong men.

As a pastor, mentor, educator, business leader, husband, and father, I have spent years investing in the growth and development of others. In fact, the foundation of my first doctoral research centered on the importance of strong male leadership, mentorship, and generational impact. The research confirmed what I had already witnessed throughout my life and ministry: when men are strengthened, families become stronger. When families become stronger, communities become healthier. When communities become healthier, generations are transformed.

That conviction gave birth to ManUp University.

ManUp University was created to serve Jackson, Tennessee, and the surrounding region by developing boys and men of color through mentorship, leadership development, brotherhood, accountability, and legacy-building opportunities.

Today, we are accepting applications for our inaugural Founding Cohort.

Only 25 participants will be selected.

Participants will be placed into one of five leadership groups:

🔹 MU NextGen (Ages 12-18)
5 Young Men

🔹 MU Young Men (Ages 19-30)
5 Participants

🔹 MU Men of Purpose (Ages 31-45)
5 Participants

🔹 MU Leaders Circle (Ages 46-60)

Each group will grow together while learning from the generations before and after them.

We're not looking for perfect men.
