SUNDAY REFLECTION: Strength for the Weary

"But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31, ESV

Faithful ministry is often joyful, but it is not always easy.

Many pastors and missionaries travel long distances, teach for hours, encourage struggling believers, and faithfully serve week after week with little recognition. Like Elijah beneath the broom tree or Paul on his missionary journeys, they know what it means to grow weary.

Yet our strength is never found in ourselves.

The Lord renews those who wait upon Him. He supplies grace for each day's journey and gives endurance to those who continue trusting Him.

Today, pray for every missionary, pastor, evangelist, and ministry leader serving through Indigenous Outreach International. Ask God to renew their strength, encourage their hearts, protect their families, and remind them that their labor in the Lord is never in vain.

Living Water

"Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again." — John 4:14, ESV

Clean water can transform a community. It protects children from disease, strengthens families, and gives people the dignity of meeting one of life’s most basic needs. Over the years, Indigenous Outreach International has been privileged to help with clean-water projects in communities where safe water is difficult to obtain.

But our greatest concern has always been the living water found only in Jesus Christ.

In John 4, Jesus met a Samaritan woman beside a well. She came looking for ordinary water, but He offered her eternal life. After encountering Christ, she left her water jar behind, returned to her town, and said, “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” — John 4:29, ESV

She became one of the earliest evangelistic witnesses in John’s Gospel. A woman who had come to the well carrying shame returned home carrying good news—and many people came to Jesus because of her testimony.

May every cup of clean water we help provide also open a door for people to hear about the One who satisfies the deepest thirst of the human heart.

Please pray that IOI’s clean-water efforts will continue meeting physical needs while creating opportunities to share the Gospel and point communities to the living water found in Christ alone.

Working Together for the Gospel

"We are God’s fellow workers." — 1 Corinthians 3:9, ESV

One of the most encouraging developments from the recent Evangelical Council meeting was the establishment of a new mission commission.

The commission plans to build a stronger network among churches, missionaries, and ministry organizations so that they can learn from one another, coordinate their efforts, and serve more effectively.

No single church or ministry can accomplish the Great Commission alone. God has given different gifts, resources, and opportunities to His people, and there is great strength when believers work together with humility and a shared commitment to Christ.

Please pray for wisdom as this new mission network is developed and that every partnership will remain centered on the Gospel and the glory of God.

SUNDAY REFLECTION: The Harvest Is Plentiful

"Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'" — Matthew 9:37–38, ESV

When Jesus looked upon the crowds, He did not first see problems to solve—He saw people in need of a Savior.

His response was not merely to work harder, but to call His disciples to pray.

The need is still great today. Across Ethiopia, there are villages waiting to hear the Gospel, believers longing for biblical teaching, and churches praying for faithful shepherds to lead them.

The Lord of the harvest is still calling men and women into His service.

Today, pray for more pastors, missionaries, evangelists, church planters, and disciplers. Pray that God would raise up faithful laborers who will joyfully proclaim Christ wherever He sends them.

A Joy No One Can Take Away

"You have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you." — John 16:22, ESV

Several months ago, two women in prison publicly confessed their faith in Christ through baptism.

Both women still have many years remaining in their sentences, but their faces tell a story greater than their circumstances. Negash shared that from the first day he met them, they carried a deep and unmistakable joy.

They said, “No one will take our joy. Despite what we have done and what we have gone through, the living God has covered our guilt by His blood. We thank Him for pouring out His grace and showing us how deeply He loves us.”

Their testimony is a powerful reminder that forgiveness in Christ is real, grace reaches into the darkest places, and true freedom cannot be measured by prison walls.

Please pray that these women will continue growing in faith, that their testimony will lead others to Christ, and that the Lord will sustain them with courage, peace, and enduring joy.

Sons and Daughters Day: A Family Formed by Grace

Today, on Sons and Daughters Day, I find myself thinking not only about my own family, but also about the spiritual family God has given me through the years. As the father of five daughters and two sons-in-love, I can honestly say they are blessings to me.

I am also grateful that God gave me an earthly father, and I am also deeply thankful for at least two spiritual fathers who helped teach me about God, faithfulness, ministry, and the life of discipleship. These men did more than share information with me. They invested their lives in mine.

Negash is one of those men.

He is not old enough to be my biological father, but he has often served as a spiritual father to me. Through his faith, wisdom, perseverance, prayer, and deep love for Christ, he has helped shape the way I understand ministry and the Church. I have learned from him not only through what he has taught, but through the way he has lived.

The beauty of the Christian life is that God forms a family that reaches across nations, cultures, and generations. We become fathers and mothers in the faith, and we are entrusted with spiritual sons and daughters whom we are called to encourage, teach, protect, and prepare for the work God has given them.

This is also at the heart of Indigenous Outreach International. We do not simply support projects. We invest in people. We help strengthen pastors, missionaries, leaders, children, and families so that one generation can faithfully pass the Gospel to the next.

Today I thank God for those who have been fathers to me, and I pray that I will be faithful to the spiritual sons and daughters He has placed in my life.

Please pray that God will continue raising up faithful spiritual fathers and mothers—and that each of us will recognize the sons and daughters He has entrusted to our care.

Built Together | IOI’s 28th Annual Celebration Banquet

For 28 years, God has been faithfully at work through Indigenous Outreach International—and we would love for you to join us as we celebrate what He has done and look forward to what comes next.

This year will be especially meaningful as we celebrate the new TLC compound in Ethiopia and the many churches, missionaries, supporters, and friends God has brought together to make this ministry possible.

Our guest speaker will be a local pastor who will share how partnering with IOI has blessed and encouraged his own church. It will be an evening of fellowship, stories from the field, gratitude, and a renewed vision for the work ahead.
