This past Sunday, we continued our study of John Chapter 1 and took a closer look at who John the Baptist was and was not.

He was not the Messiah but the voice in the wilderness preparing the way for the Lord. He did not draw attention to himself but pointed it toward Jesus.

Just as John the Baptist was sent by God to point people to Jesus, did you know that we, too, are to point people to Jesus as well?

In 2 Corinthians 5:20, the Apostle Paul reminds us, believers, that we are ambassadors for Christ! We are representatives of the King, and we’ve been given the wonderful task of sharing the Good News of Jesus with others.

This past Sunday, we continued our study of the Gospel of John, focusing on John 1:6-18. We learned about the character of John the Baptist.

John was sent by God to testify about the light (Jesus), so that everyone might believe. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to the light.

Did you know we have a ministry that helps our homeless and displaced brothers and sisters in Orange County? Every Sunday night at 6PM we have Sunday Night Supper which provides a meal to those in need. This also gives us an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

If you’re interested in coming out to support, you can talk to Rhonda on Sunday morning or call the office for more information. If you’re unable to come and still want to support, we are collecting small items that you can drop off at the Connect Desk on Sunday mornings or at the church offices during the week!

We had an incredible gathering at VISION this past Sunday as we began studying the Gospel of John! Pastor Garid opened with a detailed introduction to the book and explained what sets it apart from the other “synoptic gospels” (Matthew, Mark, and Luke).

We also took a deep dive into who John was and how his life was transformed after encountering Jesus Christ and becoming a disciple.

This past Sunday, we finished our study of the Book of Proverbs! At the start of the book, Solomon urges us to seek and understand wisdom; by the end, we are encouraged to receive wisdom through humility.

The key to unlocking true wisdom is humility. The Bible repeatedly reminds us of God’s all-knowing power. When we humble ourselves before Him, pride is removed, and we become open to receiving and applying His divine truth in our lives.

The Bible tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God above (James 1:17). Yet sometimes we take these good gifts and forget the great Giver from whom they have come.

If we’re not careful, these good things can become idols and try to take the place of God’s throne in our hearts. Our trust and dependence can slowly shift from the Eternal One to temporary things.
