The Arthritis National Research Foundation is committed to finding a cure for arthritis to help the estimated 58.5 million adults and 300,000 children in the U.S> who are living with and suffering from arthritis. The ANRF awards grants to early career scientists to develop their ideas that could lead to a cure for arthritis and related autoimmune diseases.

Imagine if arthritis could be prevented before the damage occurs?

Many people receive their diagnosis of arthritis years after their first swollen joints; at this point, the joints may be permanently damaged and stiff.

Scientists supported by ANRF are trying to alter this storyline through the identification of the earliest and most subtle signs of the condition. Identifying arthritis at an early stage can transform a person's life.

To find out more about how new research will help move us from treating damage caused by arthritis to preventing it.

Ask anyone living with arthritis how their diagnosis happened, and you’ll often hear the same story: a swollen joint here, an ache that wouldn’t go away there, months of wondering what it meant. By the time many people finally get an answer, inflammation has already left its mark—stiffness tha...

This Thursday, we're bringing together a researcher and clinician who are at the forefront of a conversation that's long overdue in rheumatology. 🔬

Kristine Godziuk, PhD will explore the science linking adipose tissue inflammation and autoimmune disease activity, and why GLP-1 receptor agonists are showing anti-inflammatory effects that go beyond weight loss.

Catherine Bakewell, MD will bring it to the clinic, covering GLP-1 prescribing in autoimmune patients and what she's seeing in practice.

Moderated by ANRF Scholar Alum Kelsey Collins, PhD.

Free. 60 minutes. Built for HCPs and APPs.

Meet Dr. Anna Costello, an Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and an attending physician in the Division of Rheumatology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

With the support of ANRF through a Rheum for Kids Pediatric Skin and Joint Grant in collaboration with PeDRA, Dr. Costello is using musculoskeletal ultrasound to improve the early diagnosis and monitoring of juvenile psoriatic arthritis JPsA Her research is focused on detecting subtle signs of inflammation in joints tendons and nails that may be difficult to identify through a physical exam alone.

By advancing the use of ultrasound in children with JPsA Dr. Costello hopes to help physicians diagnose the disease earlier monitor disease activity more accurately and prevent lasting joint damage.
