The University Club has a Newcomers’ Division as a bonus to members of the Club during their first 2 years. When you join the University Club, you are automatically added to the list of Newcomers unless you opt out.
Newcomers’ meetings are held year-round on the 3rd Thursday, from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Summer meeting locations vary, but Fall, Winter, and Spring meetings are held in the lower level of the Coralville library. There’s plenty of parking, including an underground garage with a lower level entrance for those bitter winter days.
Come to the meetings and have fun while meeting new friends and participating in a variety of interesting and often educational programs. Watch for the monthly email with program details and join in the fun.
Members of Newcomers’ Division are encouraged to participate in all the activities and interest groups offered by the University Club.
MARK YOUR CALENDER FOR 3rd Thursdays 9:30-11:00 a.m. Bring your own Beverage!

Contact us at [email protected] with questions, for more information and to sign up. We hope to see you soon!

University Club Newcomers Group met Thursday October 16 in the lower level of the Coralville Library. The meeting was well attended, which included 10 brand new members. The new members introduced themselves and we welcomed long time Iowa City residents as well as a new US citizen from France. The program then started with Rose Meyer, University Club president speak about the University Club, and an introduction of any board members present. Printing and mailing the Yearbooks and Clarion is approximately 35% of our budget
Events (luncheons and Brunch) are priced to cover the cost of the meal- the speaker honorarium, and the meal for the speaker is paid for with club funds.
The Style Show was not scheduled because we have not yet found a person willing to chair the event. We hope to reschedule the Style Show, once a chairperson has been identified. The Style Show is not a fund-raising event. The price of the ticket only covers the meal; all other expenses associated with this event are paid with club funds.
