We’re hosting a Community Conversation on Monday, November 2, and we’d love for you to join us!

At NAMI Johnson County, we’re working to better understand mental health systems in our community. We're not just looking at how organizations work together or how policies shape services, but we want to know what these systems actually look like for the people navigating them. As we conduct a social network analysis (SNA), we want to make sure community perspectives are part of that understanding, too.

We’re also launching Creative Minds, Human Rights, a City of Iowa City grant project exploring mental health as a human right through creative expression, connection, healing, and self-care. Both projects have us thinking about how we understand mental health in our community and whose voices are part of those conversations.

This will be a chance to share your thoughts, talk about what matters to you, and help us better understand mental health in Johnson County. You don’t need to be an expert or have everything figured out. We’re here to listen and learn from one another.

When: Monday, November 2 | 6–7:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:45 p.m.)

Where: R Place Peer Recovery Center, 702 S.
Gilbert St., Ste. 111, Iowa City

This is a confidential support group where individuals can share their concerns freely and gain needed support from others in the group. A community mental health forum all centered on the real voices of individuals and families navigating mental health, substance misuse, and recovery here in our communities.

Working TOGETHER for a healthier future for all. 💙

This event is free and open to everyone - you don't need to RSVP to attend. But, it helps set up enough seating, materials, and resource fair tables for everyone who walks through the door.

This support group is free and open to family and friends of a loved one with a mental illness. The support group is confidential and individuals can share their concerns and gain support from others about dealing with issues surrounding their loved one.
