Chamber Singers of Iowa City is a volunteer chorus of approximately 70 singers chosen annually by audition under the direction of Dr. Alex Koppel, with Dr. David Puderbaugh serving as Artistic Director.

🤔Thinking of joining Chamber Singers of Iowa City, especially now that our season has been announced? Carmina Burana 🎡! Messiah 🎄! British Voices 🇬🇧! Bach 🎼! We would love to have you audition, we are always looking for those who sing Tenor, Bass, Alto, and Soprano!

❓ What all goes into an audition for CSIC?
🅰️ Our conductor, Alex Koppel will assess vocal quality with: range testing, pitch matching, music reading and sight-reading. Please also come ready to sing a prepared piece or section of music (about 1 minute) unaccompanied. This can be as simple as “America the Beautiful” or another piece.

Auditions are typically 10-15 minutes and require advance sign up.

🅰️ No problem! Fill out the form and checkmark the box that says 'I plan to email to inquire about an audition time' and then email us

💲 Our annual dues last year: $185 which included music; full-time students are free. (Need-based support is available through generous donations. If cost is a concern, just ask—we’re happy to help)

🕖 We rehearse Monday nights from 7:00pm - 9:30pm

🎶📚 Join us before Into Full Flame for a special pre-concert lecture. Featuring guest speaker Dr. Ed Folsom, a Walt Whitman scholar and Professor Emeritus in the UI Department of English. 🚨🚨🚨 For the first time, CSIC is partnering with Iowa City Arts Festival! While you are walking around downtown enjoying booths, art, and food, continue walking down to the Voxman Music Building. Up the stairs and into the concert hall you'll be able to hear our dress rehearsal. Come for the music and the added benefit of A/C 🥵!
