Iowa Chapter of NAPNAP is calling for nominations for the 2026 Conference Student Scholarship Application, the Iowa NAPNAP NP of the Year, and the Iowa NAPNAP Preceptor of the Year.

You can find nomination forms on our website on the conference registration page. Forms are due by August 30th to Liz Faine ([email protected]) or Courtney Kremer ([email protected]).

Award winners will be announced at our Annual Pediatric Conference on Friday October 2nd, 2026.

Register today! Join Iowa Chapter NAPNAP for our Annual Pediatric Conference on Thursday October 1st and Friday October 2nd, 2026. The conference will be located at the Sheraton West Des Moines 1800 50th St, West Des Moines, IA 50266 . There will be a Cocktail hour on Thursday evening.

This conference targets nurses with a variety of degrees across the state of Iowa. Content focuses on contemporary pediatric topics, designed to enhance nurses’ professional practice, both in the primary and acute pediatric care settings.

Exhibitors will be in the Ballroom where the conference is taking place to enable easy traffic flow to the exhibitors at registration time, cocktail hour, breakfast, lunch and break times. To encourage attendee interaction with the exhibitors, we will again offer a drawing for prizes to those who complete vendor passport.

Join us today at our first ‘Kids Safety Day’! We’ll be at Centennial Park in North Liberty until 3:00 pm with kids safety booths (including the UIHC Aircare Team, Johnson County K9 unit, Solon Fire Department, North Liberty Fire Department, North Liberty Police Department, Bike Shop, Children’s Museum, Diventures, Iowa State Safety Extension Office, Car Seat Safety Technicians, Johnson County Ambulance, UIHC Children’s Ambulance), food trucks, and great prizes!

Come enjoy a fun filled day sponsored by IANAPNAP. This event is for kids of all ages to meet and engage with safety professionals and first responders. The Event is April 26th from 12pm-3pm at Centennial Park in North Liberty, IA. We will have police departments, fire stations, DNR, and medical professionals present. There will be our organization (Iowa Chapter of the National Pediatric Nurse Practitioners) and undergraduate and graduate nursing students from the University of Iowa present. We would like kids from the community to be able to go around and talk with each group of people about something safety related (fire safety, car seat safety, bicycles, life jackets, helmets, etc.). There will be some fun treats and prizes as well. Bring your families for this fun spring event!

This award is to assist graduate nursing students with an interest in pediatric health care issues in furthering their professional education. The award will be granted to a student to attend NAPNAP’s 47th National Conference on Pediatric Health Care on Wednesday, March 18 – Saturday, March 21, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

It’s Feature Friday! Our first featured Iowa NAPNAP member is our very own Chapter President, Samm Lee. Dr. Lee is an assistant professor of instruction at the University of Iowa College of Nursing in the acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program. She also practices as an acute care PNP specializing in pediatric pulmonary care. With 16 years of experience, Lee has focused her practice in pediatric acute and critical care settings, bringing a wealth of expertise to both her academic and clinical roles. Thank you for all you do for our organization, Dr. Lee!
