What does American Legion Post 165, Indianola, do?
One of the many ways Post 165 serves the Indianola community is by participating in local parades. Members of the post proudly provide the Color Guard at the start of each parade, helping honor our nation and set a respectful tone for the event.

Subject: Flying U.S. Flags at Half Staff (pole) without a Halyard (rope)!
We recognize when U.S. flags are being flown at half-staff. However, when we see a flag on a short diagonal staff on a house or at the top of a telescoping staff, it will not be at half-staff. But there is an approved method for honoring half-staff events on these two types of staffs. IT’S SIMPLE!
You simply attach a two to three-inch wide black “ribbon” that is the length of your flag from the top eyelet or grommet. This ribbon represents a U.S. flag flying at half-staff.
