The Mighty Maddy Foundation was created in memory of our daughter Maddy who is forever 12 years old.

Today our sweet Maddy would be 18. 🩷🎂

It’s hard to put into words what this day holds for us. We imagine the young woman she would be becoming, her laugh filling the room, her kindness still touching everyone around her, and that bright, beautiful spirit that made people feel instantly loved.

Maddy was truly something special. She had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, even in the smallest moments. And even though she isn’t here with us the way we wish she could be, her light continues to shine in so many ways, through the memories we hold close and through the purpose that carries her name forward.

Today we’re feeling the love so deeply. Thank you to everyone who has shared messages, photos, and stories about Maddy. Reading your memories means more than you know. It reminds us how many lives she touched in her short but extraordinary life.

We miss her every single day, and we love her more than words could ever say. 🩷

We are so grateful for this community never forgetting Maddy and how truly special she is. Thank you to the City of Indianola, Iowa - Government and Mayor Richardson for proclaiming March 10th as Mighty Maddy Day!

Thank you so much for everyone who wished our girl a happy birthday today. 17 feels impossible!
Sometimes it can be a weird space where people don’t always know if they should acknowledge a birthday or milestone.
My advice - ALWAYS reach out. ALWAYS say their name. ALWAYS celebrate them. We will never be upset by having our children remembered. My biggest fear in this world is a day where she is forgotten by others.
Today we donated the remaining “Sweet 16” fundraiser gift cards.
We donated 507 gift cards totaling $5,070 for the Courage Store!! We are so grateful for all of your giving in the last year and you helped make a HUGE impact on these kids and families!

💕 Happy 17th Birthday 💕

Today would have been your 17th birthday, my sweet girl. I can’t even begin to imagine the incredible young woman you would have become. My heart aches as I think of all the milestones you’ll never get to experience, the laughter we’ll never hear, the dreams we’ll never see you chase.

I still hold on to every precious memory of you, my love. Your smile, your warmth, your pure heart—those are the things I carry with me every day. But the weight of missing you never gets any easier. I wish you were here so I could see you grow, see who you’d be at 17. I wish I could hug you, laugh with you, and tell you how proud I am of everything you were and everything you would have been.

Even though you're not physically here, I feel you with me in everything I do. Your spirit, your light, continues to shine in ways I can't explain. You will always be my forever girl, and I will love you endlessly, beyond words, beyond time.

Happy Birthday, my angel. I miss you more than I could ever say.

Last week we dropped off over 250 gifts to Blank Children's Hospital oncology clinic!

As part of Maddy’s birthday fundraiser earlier this year, we set some funds aside to set up a Christmas Store for the oncology kids. This gives them the opportunity to “shop” for parents and siblings and be able to give them a gift for Christmas. We provided all the wrapping supplies so they can wrap it up and bring it home!

Thank you again for always supporting us and helping us spread light and love to those fighting the hardest battles. We love you!

It’s been 4 years. 4 years seems like just yesterday but also a lifetime ago. I think of all the things that have happened since you went to Heaven. How our lives have changed and what has stayed the same.

We keep the same traditions. Partly because it’s a way to remember you but also because starting new things that you aren’t a part of hurts too. Everything hurts without you.

We miss you so much. Who would you be today? I try to imagine you at 16. We wish with everything we have you were here. Wishing just isn’t enough.

Tonight we spent the evening together with your dad and siblings. And honestly, it’s my favorite tradition we have started. Your favorite people together celebrating our favorite person.

Maddy’s dad and older siblings dropped off pizzas for the staff at Blank today and then we spent the evening together eating dinner and playing games.

We miss you Madpie. Our hearts ache for you. Thank you Jesus for your promise of Heaven. We can’t wait to get there.

🩷 Happy 16th Birthday my Beautiful Girl 🩷

March 10, 2008 at 8:15am your beautiful soul was born into this world. I can’t even write out words that make sense. None of this makes sense. This is the 4th birthday we’ve celebrated without you. But I have to imagine that the celebration in Heaven is better than we can dream of down here.

It’s hard to admit that I can no longer imagine what you would be like now. Too much time has passed. You would have changed so much. My heart audibly cracks open with how much I miss you. It hurts. Physically hurts. The pain of missing you is unbearable. It’s hard to remember your voice until I hear it on a video. It’s incredible how that sound can transport me back to the exact moment. Sometimes I can almost feel you.

I still don’t understand why life happened the way it did. You were my best girl. We were never apart and now it feels like the space between us is suffocating. My hearts hurts for you Maddy girl, my eyes still cry for you and my arms ache for you. It’s a pain that never dulls.

Today, we will celebrate you extra big. We will remember you. Talk about you. Share you and love you. You are so special sweet girl. In a way that touched people - and you didn’t even know it.

We love you so much. Your brothers and sisters love you so much. Thank you for loving us so good. We hold onto that so tight.

Happy Sweet 16 Madpie. The girl who changed our world. You are so much bigger than you even knew. I love you. I adore you. I miss you.

🩷 Maddy’s Sweet 16 Birthday Fundraiser!! 🩷

Maddy would be turning 16 years old on March 10 😭. I cant think of a better way to celebrate her spirit than to raise funds for The Courage Store!

✨ The Courage Store is a “store” where kids can cash in bravery bucks they earn when they do really hard things during treatment and buy items out of the store.

✨ As Maddy got older she LOVED shopping for the gift cards and she equally loved using them!

✨ Gift cards come in $10 increments and from a variety of places. Let’s restock their supply in Maddy’s memory!

🎉 Between March 1-10, the Mighty Maddy Foundation will be collecting monetary donations in honor of Maddy’s 16th birthday!
