A BIG Thank You to Councilman John Perkins

As John’s time representing District 1 comes to a close, we simply want to say thank you.

John has been a friend and supporter of the Ennovation Center, our small business community, and the entrepreneurs and people who work every day to make Independence a better place. We are grateful for the time, attention, and genuine effort he has given to our community.

Public service isn’t always easy — and it isn’t always appreciated nearly enough. But kindness, accessibility, a willingness to listen, and simply showing up for the people you serve matter.

John, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for listening. Thank you for supporting our entrepreneurs and small businesses, and for caring about the people working hard to make the City of Independence such a special place to call home.

Your service has made a difference, and we want you to know that it has been appreciated.

As this chapter comes to a close, we wish you nothing but happiness, success, and many great adventures in whatever comes next.

We love running into our Ennovation Center businesses out in the community! 💚💙🚚

We spotted Full-E-Loaded and Nonnie’s Shaved Ice Treats at the Independence Chamber’s Food Truck Friday… and of course, we had to stop by!

There’s something pretty special about seeing entrepreneurs we’ve worked with out there serving customers, building their businesses, and doing their thing. These are the moments that remind us why we love what we do at the Ennovation Center.

And a big THANK YOU to the Independence Chamber of Commerce for hosting Food Truck Friday and creating opportunities for small businesses like these to get in front of the community. We also appreciate the support of Mayor Kevin King and his family! Supporting local entrepreneurs takes all of us… and events like this make a difference.

If you see one of our Ennovation Center food trucks around town, stop by, grab something delicious, and show them some love!

Small businesses supporting our community… and our community supporting small businesses. That’s how it should work.

Small businesses don’t just do business in Independence… they build Independence.

The Ennovation Center was proud to be part of Mayor Kevin King’s first Small Business Committee meeting and, more importantly, part of an open and candid conversation about what our entrepreneurs need to start, grow, and thrive in our community.

Thank you, Mayor King, for bringing business owners and community partners together and creating space for people to speak honestly about both the opportunities and the challenges of doing business in Independence.

One message came through loud and clear: no single organization can build a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem alone.

It takes collaboration.

It takes listening.

And then… it takes action.

At the Ennovation Center, our mission is to help entrepreneurs turn ideas into sustainable businesses through business planning, financial coaching, mentorship, affordable incubation space, commercial kitchens, specialized labs, connections, and access to resources. But our work becomes even more powerful when City leadership, the Independence Chamber of Commerce, economic development partners, community organizations, and entrepreneurs are all pulling in the same direction.

We’re excited about where these conversations can lead and grateful to have a seat at the table.

Thank you to Mayor Kevin King, Councilmember Jackie Dorman, Councilmember Heather Wiley, Valerie Byrnes and the Independence Chamber of Commerce, Jarvis Sackman, the business owners who participated, and everyone committed to making Independence a place where entrepreneurs can start here, grow here, and stay here.

There is work ahead… and the Ennovation Center is ready to be part of it.

WELCOME TO THE ENNOVATION CENTER, SPECTRUM CLINICAL RESEARCH!

We’re excited to welcome Spectrum Clinical Research as one of the newest businesses joining the Ennovation Center community!

And they’re already getting to work. 🙌

Today, Spectrum Clinical Research is hosting an event focused on women in their 40s and 50s and the hormonal changes that can come with this season of life — creating a space for women to learn, ask questions, and better understand what’s happening with their bodies.

Their work also highlights the important role women play in advancing clinical research and developing future treatment options in women’s health.

This is exactly what we love about the Ennovation Center… bringing together entrepreneurship, science, innovation, education, and community impact under one roof.

We’re proud to have Spectrum Clinical Research growing with us and excited to see what comes next!
