Yesterday, business managers from IBEW construction locals across the Commonwealth met with Andy Beshear to discuss the continued growth of Kentucky’s electrical industry and the challenges facing working families across our state.

The conversation focused on creating opportunities through good union careers, expanding workforce development and apprenticeship programs, and ensuring Kentucky’s growth continues to benefit the people who live and work here.

IBEW locals remain committed to building a stronger future for our communities while advocating for the men and women who power Kentucky every day.

When workers vote to form a union, they shouldn't have to wait years to see the benefits of that decision.

The Faster Labor Contracts Act is a bipartisan effort to ensure that workers who choose union representation can actually secure a first contract in a reasonable amount of time. Too often, workers exercise their legal right to organize only to face endless delays at the bargaining table while employers drag out negotiations.

This legislation would establish a clear process: bargaining must begin promptly, unresolved disputes move to mediation, and if necessary, binding arbitration helps secure that critical first agreement.

Collective bargaining means little if workers can be denied a contract through delay tactics. Workers deserve a fair path from voting for a union to securing the wages, benefits, and working conditions they voted for.
