Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood

Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood The Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood supports families in our community from cradle to career.

The Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood believes in the Theory of Change; if educational and community support are continuous from before birth through college to career, then children will successfully break through the intergenerational cycle of poverty and reach their full potential. By utilizing the strengths-based perspective and valuing the dignity and worth of every person, GHPN is able to

focus on building the community of the Hudson City School District to ensure that children and families are given adequate opportunities to thrive from cradle to college to career. Our CORE VALUES include:

Social Justice
We believe that in a vision of society in which the distribution of resources is equitable and all members of society are physically and psychologically safe and secure. Racial Equity
We believe that it is possible to live in a community, and a society, in which one’s racial identity will no longer predict how one fares in life. The Dignity & Worth of Every Person
We believe that everybody is unique and worthwhile and that all of the members of our community are valuable. Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
We believe in providing two-generation programs that work with children and parents to assure educational and occupational success to help families break generational patterns of poverty. The Importance of Education
We believe in setting high expectations and supporting our children from cradle to college and beyond. The Power of Community
We believe that the answers to the challenges in our community are found within its members as the experts; we believe that the hearing the voices of our community members is essential to assessing their needs and developing relevant programming and supports.

Volunteers in swaths of orange brought the light to Hudson yesterday, even when the sun was hiding, and what an incredible day it was! ☀️🗑️

Our 12th Annual Community Clean-Up was (thanks to you all!) once again an incredible success, bringing together hundreds of volunteers from the community, of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. It is with good reason that this event marks one of our organization’s favorite days of the year. Our shared streets and spaces are now safer and cleaner than they were found to be… all because we came together again on a Thursday in May!

GHPN expresses our sincere gratitude to event sponsors & , and for their generous donation of delicious teas and lemonade! 🫖

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” — Benjamin Franklin

Our Team-Tam After-School Program Photography Club took their cameras up Warren Street a few blocks for a mini field trip and tour of yesterday, and unironically, we have photos to share!

A very special thank you to Stair Galleries and their knowledgeable, friendly staff for welcoming our Photography Club and allowing us to document the experience while providing a wealth of information to our kids!

For youth enrolled in Promise’s TeamTam After-School Program, moments like these are about more than a single outing. Through enrichment programs and partnerships with organizations right here in our community, young people have the opportunity to engage with art, culture, and creative spaces that inspire them and broaden their world.

The City of Hudson holds so much history and is home to so many incredible artists; youth enrolled in our Photography Club travel to indoor and outdoor spaces with to capture the beauty of our City, hone their skills, and express themselves individually as young and budding artists themselves.

At Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood, we believe that access to experiences like these is part of what it means to help young people grow, learn, and thrive. Interested in welcoming our Photography Club for a guided, educational tour in the future? Let us know!

Happy Mother’s Day from Team Promise!

This week, our youngest learners made special gifts for the mama/mommy in their lives. 💐

We hope our families enjoyed them, and hope all of the mothers in our community enjoy their day, feeling the love and appreciation they deserve for all they do day in and day out, year-round.

It takes a village… it starts with motherhood. 💝🏡

Joan E. Hunt, leads with her whole heart, at Promise and at home. Whether you interact with her on the street, in a Zoom meeting, court-side, at morning drop-off, in the gym, or in between her twins’ extracurriculars, Joan listens fully, leads by example, and is driven by the same core values that are the foundation of our organization. So, it is with great pride and passion that Team Promise announces her latest on a long list of accolades as we head into Mother’s Day Weekend! 📰

👑🌷🏡

GHPN Executive Director, Joan E. Hunt, has been named one of four finalists for the 27th Annual “Capital Region Best Mom of the Year,” presented by St. Peter’s Health Partners and the City of Albany.

Joan was nominated by Hudson’s own Chief of Police, Mishanda Franklin, whose nomination speaks to the partnerships and relationships she has cultivated as well as the impact on our entire community.

This Sunday, May 10th (Mother’s Day) Joan will be recognized alongside three other incredible finalists at the Tulip Festival in Albany’s Washington Park, where Capital Region’s Best Mom will be crowned at 11:00 a.m. on the Lakehouse Stage.

Please join us in congratulating these amazing mothers from the Capitol Region and celebrating our very own, Joan! 🎉
