Hello, my name is Cooper Burley. I'm working toward achieving the Rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 362 in Howell. I am 16 years old and going into my Senior year at Howell High School. I'm raising funds to build a Free Book Library that will be installed at Summit Gardens located next to the new Fire and Ice District in Downtown Howell. The new Free Book Library will provide free 24/7 access to books for people of all ages and reading levels with no library card or cost required. All funds raised will be directly used to build the Free Book Library for the City of Howell. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

💚💛 Service, fellowship, and a lot of fun!💚💛

Today, members of Howell Rotary came together for a hands-on service project benefiting Fleece & Thank You, a Michigan-based organization that provides colorful fleece blankets and messages of encouragement to children facing extended hospital stays.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support the incredible mission of Fleece & Thank You and proud of our members for continuing to put Service Above Self into action.

Long before Howell became known for Balloonfest, concerts, and downtown events, Howell was famous for something else entirely…

Melons.

For generations, the Howell Melon Festival has been one of those traditions that instantly brings back memories for people around here. It's like an unofficial homecoming weekend in Howell.

So while creating a mural inspired by the stories and experiences that make this community special, I knew there had to be a little nod to that tradition hidden inside it.

And here’s the fun part…

If you look closely once the mural is unveiled, it will actually help point you toward ordering melon ice cream. 👀🍦

WE DID IT!!! 🎨❤️

Because of this incredible community, we officially reached our fundraising goal for Phase I of the ART Doing Good mural project!

The Rotary Club of Howell is so grateful to everyone who donated, shared posts, encouraged others, and helped spread the word. This truly has been a community effort, and we are honored to help bring this vision to life alongside so many amazing community partners and supporters.

This mural will celebrate the people, stories, memories, and organizations that make Howell so special while helping connect our community to local nonprofits, events, and opportunities to get involved.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible, including Explore Brighton Howell Area, MI, the The City of Howell, Bank of Ann Arbor-Livingston, Mugg & Bopps, Livingston County United Way, and the many community members who rallied behind this project.

We are excited to see this mural by Susan Pominville, inspired by the voices of our community, on the Thai Cafe building!
