This little guy had been placed with his foster family the night before, and they came to the Closet the next day for clothing, socks, diapers, bedding, feeding supplies and other baby essentials. One of our youngest volunteers was pretty happy to meet him.

We love seeing young people give back to their community! Our weekends are full of teens volunteering at the Closet, helping us organize and prepare items for the families we serve. We’re so grateful for their willingness to jump in and lend a hand. Thank you for making a difference!

While we were working hard setting up our new space, our parking lot was quickly filling with trash and boxes 😱. Luckily, Chris with Third Coast Junk Services , came to our rescue! Thanks Third Coast Junk Services for helping us keep our parking lot tidy!

Sometimes the best way to explain what the Closet does is to hear it from the families who use it. We recently received this message from a grandmother raising her grandson, and it meant so much to us. Kinship caregivers often step in unexpectedly to care for children they love, and having a place to turn for clothing, baby gear and everyday essentials can make that transition a little easier. We’re grateful to be that place for families across our community.

This one stuck with us. A teen mom learning how to care for her baby, with a foster mom beside her helping her along the way. We’re grateful the Closet could be one small part of helping this mom and baby stay together and giving them what they need along the way.

We’re finally ready to open the doors to our new home! What started as a small Closet with a big mission has grown into a space that will allow us to serve even more foster, adoptive and kinship families across the Houston area.

We would love for you to join us November 7 for our Grand Opening! Come tour the new Closet, see how it all works and get a firsthand look at the resources available to the families we serve. Whether you’ve donated, volunteered, supported us from afar or are simply curious about what happens at the Closet, we’d love to welcome you in and celebrate this next chapter with you.

Want to help us get our new home ready? We’ve put together an Amazon Housewarming Wishlist with some of the things we still need for the new space. 💚 https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/AUJI1PTSX0SS?ref_=wl_fv_le

A foster mom once reached out to us looking for a car seat she could load from her wheelchair. She worked with Crazy for Car Seats - Houston, TX to find one that swivels toward her, then turns to the rear-facing position for the ride. Thanks to our donors, we were able to buy it for her.

Foster, adoptive, and kinship families, if there’s something specific that would make caring for a child easier, let us know. We’d love to see how we can help.

Sometimes you come for what you need and leave with the giant rainbow stuffed animal you didn’t know you needed. We love giving kids the chance to pick out something fun just for them while their families get the essentials they came for. Because Closet trips should have a little magic mixed in, too.

No matter who you’re cheering for this postseason, we think we can all cheer for this! Earlier this summer, our Founder and Executive Director, Nicole Aboudaher, and her family were chosen as a Bananas Foster Family and celebrated at Banana Ball. We loved seeing Nicole and her family recognized for the difference they’ve made in the foster care community. Congratulations and we are so thankful for you Nicole, Naseem and family!
