If you’re new here, we want to invite you into a tradition that has become deeply meaningful to us. Every Tuesday, we wear and share purple in honor of Christa and in solidarity with victims and survivors of domestic violence.

You see, it was on a Tuesday that our world shattered—the day we learned that our beautiful, loving friend had been taken from this world. For a long time, Tuesdays arrived carrying only heartbreak. Until we decided to take Tuesday back.

Now, Tuesdays are for Christa, and the baby she never had the chance to hold. Tuesdays are for every person who feels unseen, unheard, or alone. To remind you that we see you. We hear you. We support you. 🫶🏻

Tuesdays are our days to shine light into darkness, to remind survivors that they are not alone, and to honor a life that continues to move hearts and inspire courage. And it is also a day to remind the world that we are still here. Watching, waiting, and believing that justice will come. ⚖️

Join us tomorrow by wearing + sharing your purple pictures and tagging đź’ś

⚖️ You would think that by now we would have learned to expect the unexpected—that we would understand the target is always moving, and that certainty seems forever just out of reach. And yet, today brought another painful reminder.

No decision was reached in family court regarding where the children—and therefore the Bauers—will be ordered to live. Another hearing has now been set for June 18th, where a decision will hopefully be made. 💜

Tomorrow is an incredibly important day for Christa’s children.

The family court judge will decide whether the temporary ruling issued two weeks ago — requiring the Bauers to relocate the children back to Texas — will become permanent, or whether the children will be allowed to remain in South Carolina, the place they have called home for the past year.

In the wake of unimaginable loss, these children have found comfort in the presence of extended family, stability in routine, and safety in a community that has surrounded them with unwavering love and support after their world was shattered.

Please continue to lift the Bauer family in prayer as they once again endure the exhausting legal process that has consumed so much of their lives since Christa’s death.

Keep sharing Christa’s story. Keep saying her name. Keep shining her light.

Most importantly, please continue praying for Christa’s surviving children — that their best interests will remain at the center of every decision made, and that they will continue to be surrounded by the love, protection, and stability they so deeply deserve. 💜

Tomorrow is Tuesday — the day we wear purple for Christa + May Baby — and it’s also the day Lee will appear for a court hearing in Italy. As the Bauers continue to walk through the unimaginable, let’s surround them with love and support by wearing and sharing our purple, continuing to tell Christa’s story, and keeping her light shining brightly for the world to see. 💜

There have been so many twists and turns in recent weeks that it’s hard to catch our breath. Our hearts are still breaking, our minds still trying to process, but as we face the week ahead, here’s where things stand.

Lee remains detained in Italy. He has a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, 5/26. At this time, we don’t know the nature of the hearing, but his Italian attorney has indicated she is working to have him transferred to an immigration detention facility while he continues seeking asylum.

Meanwhile, according to recent reports, the Italian government has still not received a formal extradition request from the DOJ. The deadline for that request is mid-June, meaning precious time is slipping away. We are doing everything we can to make sure the urgency of this situation is understood. To everyone who has helped raise awareness: thank you. Your voices matter more than you know. We are especially thankful to SC Senators and who are working to push for action.

This Friday, 5/29, the postponed family court hearing will take place. This will determine whether the current order requiring the children to return to Texas becomes final, forcing the Bauers to uproot their lives once again, or whether the court will reconsider its ruling.

Since Christa’s death, the Houston community has surrounded the Bauers with extraordinary love and support. But the painful reality is that neither the children nor the Bauers have family in Texas. The last remaining connection tying the children to Texas was their father — a man who has since fled the country, just prior to his trial for the murders of their mother and unborn sibling.

We are asking you, once again, to stand with us. Keep sharing Christa’s story. Keep speaking her name. Every person who learns about this case brings more light to it, and light is what we desperately need right now.

Some days this fight feels impossibly heavy. But your support reminds us that we are not carrying this alone. Together, we will continue fighting for Christa and the children she loved so deeply. đź’ś

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks of legal updates as hearings have taken place in Italy and Houston. Much of the news out of those hearings has left us sick and heartbroken. In family court last week, a judge ruled to move Christa’s children back to Texas from South Carolina — where they’ve been surrounded by care and support in the place where we grew up. Lawyers for the family have asked the judge to reconsider. The next hearing, where the judge will consider that motion, has been moved from this Friday to Friday, May 29.
We have deeply appreciated this community’s support for the wellbeing of Christa’s children, and ask that you continue to show up, respectfully, by sharing her story, wearing purple, and keeping the spotlight on accountability.
Lee Gilley also appeared in an Italian court last week, where he did not consent to extradition and requested asylum. He is currently in custody there, though his lawyers have asked for him to be moved from an Italian prison to administrative detention. We are distraught at any potential of lowered security or monitoring of his whereabouts, given the evidence of flight risk, and are steadfast in our belief he should be returned to the U.S. to stand trial as soon as possible. Another hearing is scheduled in Italy next week.
We will continue to provide updates as we can, and are working to add the recent news stories to the Justice for Christa website. đź’śđź’śđź’ś

It’s another heavy and important week in the fight for justice . This Thursday there is a criminal court status hearing, followed by family court on Friday. Every hearing is another reminder of why we keep showing up, standing strong, and fighting for Christa and her babies.

Tomorrow is Tuesday, so wear your purple, share it, and keep praying with us. Your support continues to carry Christa’s family and friends through the unimaginable. 💜

💜After Christa’s death in October 2024, the Bauer family relocated to Houston to care for Christa’s surviving children. By court order, they endured the unimaginable — raising two grieving toddlers while living in the home where their daughter was killed, while managing their businesses from halfway across the country.

One year ago, the judge answered our prayers and allowed the Bauers to return home to South Carolina with the children. Since then, the children have found stability, healing, and a sense of home.

They now live down the street from their cousins, attend wonderful schools, participate in activities, and go to the same church where their mother was raised. They visit her grave every week.

They are surrounded every day by extended family and a community that loves them deeply. They have established friendships, routines, counseling, medical care, and the consistency every child deserves — especially after enduring unthinkable trauma and loss.

Yesterday, the same judge ruled that the Bauers must relocate the children back to Houston — a place where they have no family, nor the support system they have leaned on over the past year. This decision would uproot them from a loving and stable environment and force them into yet another life-altering transition while the extradition and asylum proceedings involving Lee continue overseas.

We are devastated. After everything these children have already lost, we cannot understand how removing them from the only true sense of stability they have known since their mother’s death could possibly be in their best interests.

These children deserve continuity. They deserve healing. They deserve to remain where they are safe, supported, and surrounded by love.

A final ruling will be made next Friday, and we are asking for your prayers, support, and voices. The wellbeing of the children must come first. Please help us continue advocating for the entire Bauer family by sharing their story, keeping them in your prayers, and respectfully speaking up for their best interests. We truly believe public support matters right now. đź’ś

Recent news in the criminal case has inspired many of you to ask how you can help.
As we figure out what honoring Christa and seeking justice looks like going forward, we encourage everyone to be engaged citizens, however that looks to you.

We’re sharing ideas, while remembering that Christa cared for others, was humble in her service, and welcoming to all.

For you, it may look like making purple ribbons to wear and share in your community, or putting them around your neighborhood.
It may look like contacting your elected representatives and voicing support for accountability in the criminal justice process.
Sharing news stories that include the impact on Christa’s loved ones.
Donating to the gofundme to support her family with legal fees and travel costs.
Buying and wearing tshirts. (Link is now in bio)
Volunteering at a local shelter that specializes in supporting victims of intimate partner violence.
If you’re local, eating at the family restaurant.
Planting purple flowers or caring for our natural environment.
Being a good neighbor, friend, parent, daughter, sister.

Though the last week has left us hurting, frustrated, discouraged and even ready to scream, we have been comforted by the memories of Christa that you all have shared.

So we’ll do our best to move forward with grace, and continue to fight for justice with respect and the love she showed all the people in her life. 💜
