Gretchen CoachGee and DJ Boom Boom Williams will get the party going with Boots on the Ground and other popular hits. 📣Calling all yogis and fitness friends to celebrate International Day of Yoga at Discovery Green featuring Bollywood Dancing, performances by advanced yogis and a guided yoga practice of movement, breath, sound, intention and stillness. This amazing movement is celebrated in over 170 countries as part of the summer solstice. Bring your water bottles and yoga mats to officially kick off summer!

✨At 8 pm participants can walk a labyrinth while bathed in sound from many local musicians and healers as part of Make Music Day. As part of this day, we would like to give back to others. Please bring cans of food that will be used to outline the labyrinth path. After the event, the food will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.

✨Fitness is for EVERYONE! Discovery Green offers a variety of fitness classes through out the week. From Spanish speakers and senior citizens, to children and wheelchair users, these classes become a place of growth and community for all. Each class is FREE! Construction at the George R Brown convention center on Polk Street has closed the Avenida Central Garage to the public.

Street parking around Discovery Green is the most economical but will be limited for the next few months. The McKinney parking lane adjacent to Discovery Green has been converted into a bike lane. Street parking is still available on La Branch. We suggest allowing yourself ample time to find a spot.

Alternatively, you may use the Avenida North Garage (701 Avenida de las Americas) or surface lot parking options such as 1515 Rusk Street Parking Lot. Rates may vary.

♻️For all our downtown and recycling friends, Discovery Green offers a recycling bin every Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm. The bin is provided by the City of Houston to encourage Houstonians to reduce waste. Protect the Earth by dropping off your clean plastics, paper, glass and aluminum.

🌱Discovery Green Conservancy welcomed Houston’s civic, philanthropic, and cultural leaders on Saturday, May 9, for the inaugural “A Night of Discovery,” a vibrant new spring fundraiser celebrating the programming, art, music, and community experiences that have made Discovery Green one of Houston’s most beloved public spaces.

✨Co-chaired by Frances Lummis and Gillian Sarofim, cousins of Discovery Green co-founder Maconda Brown O’Connor, the event marked a new generation of civic leaders guiding the vision and philanthropy that helped transform downtown Houston. The evening raised funds in support of Discovery Green's operations, free year-round programming, and large-scale public art initiatives that serve more than 3.3 million visitors annually.

Many thanks to all who attended and everyone who supports this uncommonly beautiful green space!

✨This Saturday meet a Houston organization that highlights improving mental health through community partnership, social engagement and volunteerism. Creative Mental Wellness was established to help fill gaps in access to mental health resources within communities by promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and connecting people with resources that support their mental and emotional well-being.

✨Attendees also have the opportunity to meet Root, Reflect, Renew in a walk-up experience that offers brief, nature-based practices to support grounding, emotional awareness, and gentle release. Take a few minutes to pause, reconnect, and care for your inner world—no experience needed. Led by Dr. Angelina H. Rodriguez.

🧘Arrive early and enjoy a free morning yoga class presented by UTHealth Houston. Yoga Better is led by instructor Andria Dugas who guides her class with a series of meditation, strength poses and yoga tips.
