We were proud to convene community leaders, advocates, and system partners to mark the release of the latest Harris County Sexual Assault Response Team (HCSART) report. Together, SART is working to build a more coordinated, survivor-centered response—one that improves outcomes, strengthens accountability, and ensures survivors receive the support they need at every step.

This report reflects the collective efforts of agencies across Harris County to better align services, close gaps, and respond with compassion and care. While challenges remain, it also highlights meaningful progress and a shared commitment to continue moving forward. We’re grateful to our partners for their leadership and collaboration as we work toward a stronger, more responsive system for all survivors.

Thanks to our partners with the Harris County Attorney's Office, Houston Police Department, Houston Forensic Science Center, Harris County Precinct 2, and Harris County Precinct One for speaking!

This May, as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize that trauma doesn't end when a difficult experience does. 💚 At HAWC, we show up for survivors, families, and our community through compassionate, trauma-informed care from the moment someone calls our 24/7 hotline to our group counseling and children's program. Every mental health service we offer is built around one belief: when people feel seen and supported, healing becomes possible.

In 2025, our Behavioral Health and Wellbeing Team provided support to 1,346 client survivors at One Safe Place Houston, our community hubs, and virtually to increase survivors' access to trauma support.

Strengthening the support around survivors and responding with care during challenging moments saves lives, transforms trauma, and leads to healing.

At HAWC, we stand alongside sexual violence survivors and strive to protect our community from acts of sexual violence. 💜 The Sexual Violence Primary Prevention (SVPP) program has created a survey to understand the views of individuals in Texas. It asks questions about you, your community, and the people in it.

We invite you and anyone of any age who lives in Texas to participate. All answers are anonymous, and taking the survey is voluntary. The survey will take no longer than 5-10 minutes.

We must all strive to do our part in using our voice to prevent sexual violence in our community.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at HAWC 💜

This Saturday, we celebrated all of the survivors at One Safe Place Houston at a Mother’s Day Celebration!

This year’s festivities were made possible by the generous support of J. Landa Jewelry!

“We wanted to support this wonderful Mother’s Day event because it creates a moment of joy for families who truly deserve it,” says designer Jay Landa, owner. “It’s about giving parents and children the chance to simply be together, have fun, and make positive memories—something every family should have.”

Volunteers helped children create beautiful floral bouquets, while others guided families through card- and craft-making activities, with a DJ and photo booth that captured smiles all afternoon.

This event was made extra special by D’Andra Wallace and our friends at Lexitas Legal, H-E-B, and Bloom Again Houston. It was a joyful, high-energy day made possible by a community that showed up in every way. 💜

Tomorrow, April 29, is . This is more than an outfit choice—it’s a statement. By wearing denim, we take a stand against victim‑blaming and show our support for survivors of sexual violence. Every pair of jeans represents a commitment to believing survivors and challenging harmful narratives.

Wear denim, share why it matters, and help us amplify a message of dignity and respect. Collective action can create real change.
