Domestic violence doesn't stay home when someone goes to work — it follows them into meetings, into deadlines, and into the workplace. It has a real impact on companies and organizations of all sizes.

That's why events like Resilience & Resources matter so much. Last week, we gathered with over 70 leaders in our community to discuss the impact of domestic violence in the workplace.

The Houston Area Women’s Center recently joined women leaders from Houston's Mexican community at the Consulate General of Mexico to welcome Ambassador Roberto Lazzeri during his first official visit to Houston.

Our team was honored to highlight HAWC's work supporting survivors and families across our region. We are grateful for our longstanding partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico, which serves as one of our neighborhood hubs, helping connect survivors with outreach, support, and counseling services.

Thank you to the individuals, families, businesses, and community groups who donated backpacks and school supplies for our Back to School Event. Together, you helped provide more than 200 backpacks for children currently living at One Safe Place Houston, future residents, and non-residential clients.

As children prepare for a new school year, your generosity helps ease financial burdens for families and ensures students have the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

School is back in session this week across Houston! We hope this school year brings opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve great things.

At HAWC, we see firsthand how important consistency and stability can be for children. Through our on-campus Houston ISD K-5 school, children living at One Safe Place Houston can continue their education in a supportive setting while their families access services and support.

What happens when creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurship come together? ✨

This summer, children in our Childhood Enrichment Program partnered with our Economic Empowerment Program to create and operate their very own business, the North Pole Factory. This project included selling snow cones, lemonade, snacks, and merchandise to managing budgets and learning valuable money management skills. These young entrepreneurs worked hard to bring their vision to life!

The North Pole Factory opened its doors to HAWC staff and clients, raising more than $1,500, which the children chose to donate back to our organization to support survivors and families.

We are so proud of their generosity, dedication, and accomplishment! ❤️
