A huge F+B thank you to everyone who joined us for breakfast in Napa, presented by Resy! 🍇

We put out an industry call to gather for a morning meal at Silver Oak, while Southern Smoke Foundation Chief Mission Officer Catarina led a conversation on showing up for our food and beverage family.

One of the biggest themes of the morning was the importance of community. Simply being together—in person, sharing stories and supporting one another—is good for our mental health.

Shout out to our panelists, Julia Palos, Nick Guantone, Robert Sinskey, and Kim Vallejo of California Lutheran University, as well as Oakville Grocery & Wine Merchant for an incredible breakfast!

When times are tough, the right support can make all the difference.

Southern Smoke's Emergency Relief Fund provides assistance to food and beverage workers experiencing financial instability due to an unforeseen crisis.

Our qualifications include:
🔸 You're currently working in F+B with a taxable income
🔸 You’ve averaged 30+ hours a week for the past six months
🔸 The crisis occurred within the last six months from the date of your application

After you apply, one of our caring case managers will work with you to build the strongest case possible, which means asking for documentation on how your finances have been impacted. This can feel deeply personal, and we're here to support you through it.

Just days before heading to Chicago for the James Beard Awards, the Houston James Beard Foundation finalists came together at ChòpnBlọk for an unforgettable meal—and they chose Southern Smoke Foundation, a 2026 Impact Award Honoree, as the beneficiary.

This night, and the ceremonies that followed, captured exactly what makes Houston’s food scene so special. Our strength comes from our diversity, shaped by the traditions of our immigrant communities, but what really sets Houston apart is the camaraderie—this is a city where we root for each other.

Seeing this group collaborate in the kitchen was incredible, but raising more than $11,000 to support emergency grants and mental health services for food and beverage workers was just... *chef's kiss* 🤌

Thank you to each chef and team member who made this night happen, and to every guest who helped make it special. We're SO proud to be part of this community.

Our Emergency Relief Fund has provided over $16.6 million to food and beverage workers in need, for everything from housing to medications, and our Behind You program has provided access to over 12,000 no-cost counseling sessions.
