Our first outing with our new AmeriCorps VISTA team was a success! 🎉

This week, our VISTAs joined us at a special meet-and-greet hosted by Dr. LaShondra Jones of the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods (DON)'s to welcome the new Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center Director, Amir Farooqi. The event brought together Veterans, community organizations, charities, and supporters for an evening of networking, resource sharing, and fellowship.

We're excited to officially welcome our newest team members and begin this next chapter together. With the addition of our summer VISTAs, Stay Tuned for Vets is stronger than ever and ready to accomplish even more for the Veteran and military community we proudly serve.

A huge thank you to AmeriCorps and Camp SHiEld - After Military Service for helping coordinate and support this incredible opportunity. We can't wait to see what we accomplish together! 🇺🇸

Stay Tuned for Vets is proud to announce that Jibrell P Crump has been named our 2026 Woman Veteran of the Year and recipient of the Dr. LaShondra Jones Leadership Award.

With more than 60 unique nominations, our community made it clear that Jibrell's dedication to veterans deserves recognition. Since her military service, she has devoted countless hours to supporting veterans through mentorship, leadership programs, community events, resource groups, and nonprofit work. Through organizations such as Into the Eyes of Solomon and veteran communities like We Got Us Veterans United, she has helped create meaningful connections, provide support, and strengthen the veteran community throughout Texas and beyond.

Known for her compassion, leadership, and willingness to help whenever needed, Jibrell has become a trusted advocate and friend to countless veterans. Whether she's organizing events, connecting veterans to resources, or simply answering a phone call from someone in need, she consistently shows what service beyond the uniform looks like.

Please join us in congratulating Jibrell and celebrating her incredible impact at the Texas Women Veterans Day Ceremony and the 78th Anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act:

At Stay Tuned for Vets, we believe in the power of connection, creativity, education, and community. Through our programs, events, workshops, and peer support opportunities, we strive to create spaces where veterans and their loved ones can find encouragement, purpose, and meaningful connections.
