Sometimes, we rush into marriage because of age, pressure, comparison, or the fear of being left behind.

But marriage isn't a race.

Take the time to build yourself. Discover who you are. Know your values. Know what you want from life and from a partner.

And remember: being 38, 39, or even 41 and waiting for the right marriage doesn't mean your life has passed you by.

It's better to be prepared for marriage than simply prepared to get married.

Sometimes, the hardest thing to unlearn is what we were taught growing up.

We were taught that marriage completes you. That you need someone to become whole. That sometimes, you should ignore your doubts because “society” expects you to settle down.

But what happens when you haven't discovered who YOU are yet?

Before you say “I do,” build a life. Know your values. Know your standards. Know what fulfills you. Know what you want — and what you absolutely cannot accept.

Because at the end of the day, society will move on… but you are the one who has to live with the choices you make.
