Rejection Fuels My Purpose

There was a day when Michael Jordan walked into the gym believing he belonged—and walked out feeling like he didn't.

As a sophomore, he wasn't selected for the varsity basketball team. While others saw a player who wasn't ready, Jordan saw a choice: accept someone else's opinion or make them regret it.

He chose the second.

Imagine the conversation he could have had with himself: "Maybe they're right." Instead, he replaced it with, "I'll give them no choice but to notice me."

That moment of rejection didn't become his excuse—it became his identity. Every early morning workout, every extra shot, every sprint when no one was watching was a reminder that being overlooked wasn't the end of his story. It was the beginning of it.

The world celebrates championships, MVP trophies, and game-winning shots. But none of those exist without the quiet moment when a young athlete decided that one person's "no" would never become his own.

Sometimes life closes a door not because you don't belong—but because it demands that you become someone who can build a bigger one.

Rejection is often just a snapshot of where you are today. It says nothing about who you're capable of becoming tomorrow. The people who change the world aren't always the ones who were believed in first—they're the ones who believed in themselves long after everyone else stopped.

The next time someone underestimates you, remember this: their opinion is temporary. Your response can be legendary.

"Why do you share so much of your personal life on social media someone asked me recently?"

Because somebody needs to know they're not fighting alone.

The same people who question my transparency are often the first to call when life gets hard. That's okay—we've all been there.

Years ago, one of my military supervisors told me:

"Mac, don't take this thing personally. Every one of us is going to have to take this pill called life."

He was right.

Everybody is going through something. The sooner you stop believing you're exempt from hardship, the sooner you'll start growing through it.

If there was conflict in Heaven, what makes us think we'll never face conflict on earth?

The military taught me one lesson I'll never forget:

Adapt and Overcome.

So no, I won't stop sharing my story.

I don't post for sympathy.

I post because somebody else's survival may depend on seeing that God brought me through mine.

Self-pity keeps you stuck. Testimony sets people free.

I choose to be an overcomer. What do you choose? 💪🏽🔥

Maybe if you told someone your story you wouldn't be so spiritually constipated and become free knowing that the one you are talking to is struggling just as much as you are.

They tried to bury you, but God was planting you.
What they meant to destroy, God used to develop.
What they intended for your downfall, God transformed into your destiny.
The betrayal was part of the process.
The pain was preparing the promise.
The setback became the setup for God's purpose.

Joseph didn't just survive what was meant to break him—he stood in the very place God had ordained for him.

"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.." — Genesis 50:20 KJV
