A Drop of Hope!

Despite efforts to ban single-use plastics, plastic waste remains a major issue, especially in urban areas where millions lack access to clean water. In Kenya, only 60% had safe drinking water in 2024, forcing many to rely on bottled water.

ITF-USA clean water projects addresses both plastic waste and water scarcity by installing public fountains in busy areas, offering free, clean water and encouraging reusable bottles. In August 2024, ITF-USA, led by Venuste Kubwimana and two student volunteers from the USA, launched the project in Nairobi’s Kencom area, a busy business district, transforming it into a hub for accessible water. Now, over 500 Kenyans have access to clean water daily!

The initiative has received praise for helping reduce plastic waste, keep youth in school, improve health, and boost productivity.
