This Saturday, several Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston Littles will have the incredible opportunity to serve as Player Escorts during the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between the Netherlands and Sweden right here in Houston.

Player Escorts walk hand-in-hand with athletes onto the pitch during pre-match ceremonies, taking part in one of the most iconic traditions in international soccer.

For our Littles, this is more than a chance to attend a World Cup match. It is an unforgettable experience that celebrates confidence, opportunity, and the power of dreaming big.

As the world turns its attention to Houston, our Littles will proudly represent our city and the limitless potential of the young people we serve.

From the tunnel to the world stage, they are ready to shine.

Welcome Cody Riggs to the Board!

Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston is pleased to welcome Cody Riggs to our Board of Directors.

Cody is a Client Advisor at Bernstein, where he advises individuals and families on investment strategy, wealth planning, and long-term financial decision-making. Prior to his career in finance, he played collegiate football at the University of Florida and the University of Notre Dame before spending time in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A dedicated Big Brother himself, Cody is passionate about the power of mentorship and currently mentors his Little Brother, Gavyn, through Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston.

We are grateful for Cody’s commitment to our mission and look forward to the leadership, perspective, and experience he will bring to our Board as we continue empowering Houston’s tomorrow.

For Will, mentorship is about making sure young people know they have someone in their corner.

Over the years, he has mentored multiple youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters, first through a workplace mentoring initiative and now through Mentor 2.0. This year, he was matched with Little Brother Carlos, a high school student exploring career opportunities after graduation.

Their conversations often focus on skilled trades, resume building, and preparing for the workforce. But for Will, the most important part of mentoring is being a consistent source of support and encouragement.

Outside of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Will also volunteers with a mental health organization that supports young men. Through that work, he has seen how many boys and men struggle to build strong emotional support systems.

"Many young men don't have strong emotional support systems," Will shared. "Sometimes the most important thing you can do is be available."

Whether discussing future goals, careers, or everyday challenges, Will wants Carlos to know there is a trusted adult he can turn to.

Calling Houston's Spanish-speaking professionals.

Your language, experiences, and perspective can help shape a young person's future.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston is seeking Spanish-speaking mentors to support bilingual youth across our community. Many young people are waiting to be matched with a mentor who can connect with them through shared language, culture, and understanding.

As a mentor, you don't need to have all the answers. Simply showing up consistently, offering encouragement, and sharing your experiences can help a young person build confidence, navigate challenges, and see new possibilities for their future.

🩺💚 Through Bigs in Scrubs, high school students have the opportunity to connect with healthcare professionals from Memorial Hermann Health System and explore the many career paths available in the healthcare field.

By building relationships with experienced mentors, students gain valuable insight into healthcare careers, receive guidance as they plan for the future, and learn firsthand about opportunities they may not have otherwise considered.
