As part of our Career Day Series, our Littles recently spent the day with BDO USA professionals, learning about different career paths and getting a closer look at the opportunities ahead of them.

The day gave our Littles the chance to ask questions, hear directly from professionals and make connections between their interests and future careers.

We’re grateful to BDO for sharing their time and experience and for their continued commitment to creating brighter prospects for the next generation through mentorship.

What an incredible evening for potential!

Thanks to the generosity of our Houston community, An Evening for Potential raised more than $650,000 to support Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston and the life-changing impact of mentorship.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, donors and community partners whose support made this evening possible. These funds represent an investment in Houston’s young people, helping us create and sustain meaningful mentoring relationships and reach more youth across our community.

A special thank you to our Gala Co-Chairs, Jenarae Garland and Sean Wion, along with our honorees, volunteers, Bigs, Littles, families and every guest who joined us for this memorable evening.

Funds raised represent an incredible investment in the potential of Houston’s young people, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

As BBBS Month comes to a close, we’re celebrating the people and partnerships that make mentorship possible across Greater Houston.

Throughout September, we’ve highlighted the impact of our Bigs and Littles, the families who trust us, and the community partners, supporters and volunteers who continue to invest in the potential of young people.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston, we know the impact of mentorship extends far beyond a single month. Every match creates opportunities for young people to build confidence, discover new possibilities and have someone in their corner as they navigate what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated BBBS Month with us and to those who continue to support our mission throughout the year. Together, we’re helping more young people realize their potential and build brighter futures.

Eight years ago, Tim and Sarah were matched with their Little Brother, Angel. Since then, their relationship has grown from mentorship into family.

Through challenges, new experiences and major milestones, Tim and Sarah have continued to show up for Angel and encourage his goals. Today, Angel is building careers in the electrical and barbering fields, giving back to his community and hoping to become a mentor himself one day.

We’re proud to recognize Tim and Sarah as our 2026 Community Honorees at this year’s An Evening for Potential Gala and celebrate the incredible journey they share with Angel.

Their story shows what is possible when a young person has consistent support, encouragement and someone in their corner.

Career exploration gives young people the chance to see new possibilities for their future.

Through our Career Discovery Day Series, students recently joined CenterPoint Energy for a behind-the-scenes look at the energy industry. They met with CenterPoint Energy professionals and explored careers in electrical linework, natural gas and electrical engineering, along with the pathways that can lead them there.

Thank you to CenterPoint Energy for investing in our young people and giving them an opportunity to learn, ask questions and discover new career paths.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by bringing together our Bigs, Littles, families and friends for an afternoon centered on culture, community and connection.

Guests enjoyed Lotería, games, activities, music and time together while celebrating the traditions and community that make Houston special.

The event also created an opportunity to introduce more people to the impact of mentorship and encourage our current Bigs to invite others to get involved. As we continue working to reach more young people across Houston, our mentors play an important role in helping us grow that impact.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the celebration a meaningful start to Hispanic Heritage Month.
