The Friends of the Garland County Library was incorporated in 1976 as an Arkansas non-profit. We sell donated books and other items to support GCL programs.

Please donate ONLY clean, undamaged books: no textbooks, encyclopedias, oversized books. Thanks! The group's purpose is to increase library services by:

1) raising funds through the sale of donated books, DVDs, and other materials that are available year-round in the library's Back Corner Bookshop (Book Sale Room), and
2) soliciting supporting membership by the public

All of the money raised goes to the library to fund special programs or purchase materials. Volunteers manage the Back Corner Bookshop (Book Sale Room). They sort, price, and shelve donated books, DVDs, Cds, puzzles, and other items. Their work hours are 830 am to 1100am on Mondays and Thursdays. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer.

For Sale: Set of 5 vintage 1983 popular cartoon puzzles, including Donald Duck, Minnie & Mickey, Bugs Bunny, and Tom and Jerry. Condition ranges from good to worn. Price for the set is only $5. Find these in the glass display case at the front of Garland County Library.

We’ve reorganized our Religion shelves inside the Book Sale Room at Garland County Library. Find categories such as Bible Studies, Devotionals, History and Popular Authors. Thanks to our volunteer Will Tanner who has a degree in Religious Studies!

We also have a beautiful, large (and heavy!) family Bible that has not been used or written in. The front is a little worn, but inside pages are excellent. Find it for $5 in the glass display case at the front of the library.

UPDATE: This lovely collection has found a home!

We recently received several donated boxes of Japanese books, all in great condition. None of us speak Japanese so we can’t share titles or content but they are very graphical and many appear to be educational materials. Some contain DVDs. We are guessing they are primarily geared toward children. Please review the photos for more information.

Please feel free to make us an offer for specific items or the entire collection. Just send us a Facebook message with your contact information and we will schedule a time for you to look at them at the Book Sale Room at Garland County Library.

For fans of Agatha Raisin: We just shelved a great collection of MC Beaton mysteries! Find them in the Mystery section of the Book Sale Room at Garland County Library. In very good to great condition, $1 paperbacks, $2 hardbacks.

A Science Fiction Bonanza!

We’ve recently received a large donation of science fiction/fantasy books in excellent condition. Come check out our newly stocked science fiction section in the Book Sale Room at County Library. Most sell for $1 (paperbacks) or $2 (hardbacks).

We’ve also placed three special collections of science fiction in our glass display cabinet at the front of Garland County Library. These are:
1) Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan, Books 1-5, $15 for set
2) The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley, Books 1-9, plus guide, $30 for set
3) Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Books 1-6, $20 for set

Special First Monday Sales for September, available through this Saturday

Find these special items in the front display cabinet at Garland County Library:
1) Birds of America by John James Audubon, published 2012, the National History Museum, London. Beautifully illustrated, in excellent condition, $25.
2) Space Atlas by James Trefil, in excellent condition, $20.
3) Hubble by David Devorkin and Robert W. Smith, excellent condition, $10.
4) Two boxed sets of Cameo Classics, The Purple Land and Green Mansions, both by W.H.Hudson, published in late 1920s-1930s. Boxes have noticeable wear, but inside pages are good. Boxed versions are rare. Each is $10.

This week’s treasures: newly donated collectible collections of records from artists such as Charlie Parker, Benny Goodman, Bing Crosby, and Ricky Nelson. In various conditions, priced $1-$10. Also, 3 covers without records that would make great framed art for a bar, 25 cents each.
