The Hot Springs Police Department is hosting its annual Fall Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 641 Malvern Avenue. This event collects and properly disposes of unwanted or outdated prescription medications to help prevent them from falling into the hands of irresponsible people, from polluting our water resources, or from posing a health hazard to citizens, livestock, and wildlife. Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day we pause to remember the lives we’ve lost to overdose and the families, friends, and loved ones left behind to carry that loss.

Behind every statistic is a person who was loved, a story that mattered, a life taken too soon and a family forever changed.

The Hot Springs Police Department stands with our community in remembrance, compassion, and hope. Wear purple with us today to honor those we’ve lost, support those who are grieving, and remind those still struggling that they are not alone.

In 2021, the Hot Springs Police Department made a commitment to fight the overdose crisis in our city by creating a dedicated Overdose Response Team. Today, that team is still showing up—standing beside the families left behind, seeking justice and accountability for those whose lives were taken by overdose, and fighting for those who are still here.
