The April DTS is officially in their last week of lecture phase! We started it off by bringing some Island Culture into the January DTS graduation and doing some Kia Kaha and Haka for them, then the students got to lead worship and intercession on Monday morning for the base (they did amazing!), and then the Uncles led us in some worship to lead us into outreach!

“Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭12‬ ‭

Take a scrolling break with us this morning!

Every Monday morning we gather as a community to spend time worshipping Jesus and praying for a nation, topic or people group.

This morning we prayed for the nations of Tonga and Samoa. Partner with us by praying for these nations, ripe for the harvest! 🇹🇴🇼🇸🙏🏼🔥

On Friday, May 29th, one of our beloved staff members finished his race, crossing the finish line into the arms of The Almighty.

Michael Coates was a dear brother and friend. A hard working and faithful man, Mike served in YWAM for decades along with his wife, Sue. A contractor by trade and a worshipper at heart, Mike loved glorifying God through the work of his hands and through music. He especially loved doing those things together with others, imparting his skills and knowledge whenever he could. Mike would often be seen with a smile on his face, a song on his mind, and a dad joke in his pocket. Our YWAM Honolulu family was significantly impacted and blessed by his life for the past 14 years. Sue remains serving the Lord along with us.

Our Ohana will miss Mike, but we take inspiration from his life and the way he kept faith in Jesus through a three year struggle with cancer. We mourn, but not as those who do not have hope.

“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Thanks be to God.

On Friday April 15th, 5 of our DTS students got baptized and our school leader Tua, deeply and truly dedicated the coming years to the Lord! We are so proud of how far these students have come! Keep loving the Lord and being an example of Christ!

EXPLANATION BELOW ⬇️

Q1) This is the most common question we get and understandably why. Some approaches to language teaching has translation but this actually hinders learners to fully grasp the new language. If it’s used too much, learners will become reliant and in turn stunt their growth in language learning. Translation is not bad and is needed on certain occasions. Immersion is the best approach for language learning

Q2) If you speak English as your second language, you are in a better position than native English speakers because you know what it’s like to learn the language. You can use your experience to help you teach your students and sympathize when they struggle on certain topics, grammar or pronunciation.

Q3) We have many testimonies of people doing TESOL who have had terrible school experiences and they were fearful of going back to a school setting. But their time in TESOL redeemed their classroom experience and they were/are able to make sure their classrooms are uplifting, encouraging and filled with kingdoms culture.

Q4) You don’t have to have experience teaching to do a TESOL, if God is calling you to be a teacher, this course is made just for you! Even if you don’t teach another language, TESOL teaches you the principles of being a teacher. You’ll receive practical and biblical knowledge of teaching with hands on experience.

Oh how we love doing life together!✨

As one body we are called to work together to accomplish the task of making disciples in every nation, tribe and tongue! God gives us communities to be able to bear the burdens with one another, to rejoyce together but ultimately to work in unity towards a common goal. We love seeking the Lord together.

Comment someone who you love serving the Lord with!!
