Our goal is to promote cultural exchange and harmony between people from various countries of Pacific Rim and Hawaii under the theme "Pacific Harmony" and the sub-theme of the 23rd Annual Honolulu Festival "Cultural Harmony, Journey to Peace. The Honolulu Festival is supported by the Honolulu Festival Foundation, Hawaii Tourism Authority, and corporate sponsors. The 23rd Annual Honolulu Festival f

eatures cultural displays and performances which will be held on March 10-12, 2017. Our annual highlighted events such as the Grand Parade and Nagaoka Fireworks will also featured. The Honolulu Festival Foundation supports the educational and cultural programs for the benefit of Hawaii’s school children and local communities through public outreach and charitable efforts.

Due to the ongoing severe weather conditions, Ted Kubo, president of the nonprofit Honolulu Festival Foundation, provided the following updates about the events and activities for the 30th Annual Honolulu Festival, Sunday, March 15.

◆Following venues and event schedules remain as planned
● Hawaii Convention Center
● Ala Moana Center Stage
● International Market Place Stage

◆Following events are CANCELED
● Waikiki Beach Walk Stage
● Grand Parade at Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki
● Nagaoka Fireworks Show
● Nagaoka Fireworks viewing at the Royal Hawaiian

◆Venue Changed
● Mahalo Ceremony at Sunset on the Beach at Waikiki (For invited guests only). New information will be sent to invitees.

Join the Sushi Ginza Onodera Sushi Making & Tasting Workshop and experience the fun of making sushi yourself.

In this mini hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to make and taste fresh sushi including tuna, salmon, yellowtail nigiri, and gunkan-style sushi like tuna mayo and corn mayo.

The Maui Mikoshi Contest invites Maui high school students to design and create a unique mikoshi each year.

This year’s design by the students of Baldwin High School will be featured at the 30th Honolulu Festival.

Their concept reflects themes of connection across the Pacific, celebration, and cultural harmony — drawing inspiration from elements such as ha (the breath of life), fireworks, traditional Japanese art, ikebana, and lei symbolism representing the enduring ties between Japan and Hawai‘i.

The mikoshi, created based on their design, will be displayed at the Hawai‘i Convention Center throughout festival weekend.
