The program serves youth ages 5-19 on the island of Oahu and supports youth in their development of essential life skills.

Ready to make a difference with 4-H Archery? 🏹
Become a 4-H Archery Volunteer Instructor and help youth build confidence, skills, and a love for the sport!

Adults 21 years and older who want to work with youth ages 9–19 or 4th–12th grade are invited to join the Oahu 4-H Archery Level 1 Instructor Training.

Applications are now open for the new College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resiliance’s 4-H Junior Master Food Preserver Program—a hands-on pilot empowering Oʻahu youth to master food preservation, boost food security, and turn local harvests into entrepreneurial ventures!

In Hawaiʻi, where nearly 90% of our food is imported, this program teaches entering grades 7–12 students essential techniques like dehydration, canning, pickling, jams, and jellies using Hawaiʻi-grown ingredients. They’ll blend science, agriculture, and business skills to create sustainable products, with monthly studio days (August–November) and a Keiki Open Market in December to sell their creations.

“Food preservation connects people to their food in a deeper way,” shares instructor Tina Mueller, Hawaii Master Food Preserver and Hawaiʻi State 4-H Military Program Coordinator. “Youth learn food safety, seasonality, and the value of supporting local agriculture.”

Key Dates:
Applications open: April 15 (that’s now!)

Application deadline: May 15

Participants notified: June 1

Complete DOH Food Handler’s Certificate: July 1

Program dates: July 13–24

Monthly studio days to create products: August–November

Keiki Open Market: December 12 & 13

4-H animal projects are an integral part of the 4-H youth development program, helping young people cultivate essential life skills such as leadership, responsibility, and compassion. 4-H members can work with a wide range of livestock, including: dairy and beef cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, and more!
A very special thank you to our 4-H members, club leaders, and families who braved the bad weather and showed up to the 2026 Oahu Livestock 90-Day Project Tagging Event.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thoughts to those 4-H members and families who were unable to participate this year due to the flooding. We appreciate you, and we know how hard you have worked to be a part of this program. You are always a valued part of our 4-H ohana, and we look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right.
