Navian Hawaii Navigator + Guardian = Navian 💙

We are there when it matters most, guiding families every step of the way with compassion and care.

Our mission is to bring hope, reduce fears and impact lives.

Hospice care is about living your end-of-life journey with dignity and comfort, and above all, it’s about choosing how you want to live for as long as possible. At Navian Hawaii, we are an ʻohana of trained and committed caregivers dedicated to helping patients and their families face this transition with hope and without fear, surrounded by unconditional love. The care we provide allows individuals to remain at home or in their chosen setting and to live life to the fullest with their loved ones. We care for the whole family by providing relief from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual suffering.

A little warmth goes a long way. 🧵💙

Last weekend, ACUW members came together to sew lap blankets for Navian Hawaii’s patients. The gathering also honored a longtime member who recently passed away after years of sewing quilts and blankets for others. In a touching full-circle moment, ACUW learned that a quilt was placed over their friend before her family arrived — a final gesture of comfort that reflected the same kindness she had shared with so many others.

Mahalo to these incredible volunteers for carrying on their friend’s legacy and continuing to bring comfort.

It was a beautiful afternoon of remembrance, connection and aloha. 🤍

Last weekend, we gathered for Haliʻa Aloha — Cherished Memory, to honor the lives of those we’ve had the privilege of caring for and the lasting memories they leave behind. Navian Hawaii’s Annual Memorial is open to the entire community.

Mahalo to every family and loved one who joined us and shared in this special time of remembrance. May their stories, their love and their memories continue to live on.

Meet Punky Pletan-Cross. 💙

He holds a special place in the hearts of his family, friends and care team. Shantell Cruz, Navian Hawaii’s Director of Clinical Operations, shared her personal experience meeting Punky at home and the lasting memory he left with her. Former Family Court Judge Mike Broderick shared his own story of knowing Punky through his work at Hale Kipa, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting, protecting and advocating for Hawaiʻi’s youth. What began as a professional connection grew into a longtime friendship rooted in deep respect, care and aloha.

Punky’s story will be shared this November at our fundraising gala, Nā Hoa Mālama: Lights, Camera, Auction! ✨🎬 He is being honored as one of our 2026 Hall of Heroes.

Each year, we recognize remarkable individuals whose lives have touched others in meaningful ways. Some are still with us today, while others are remembered through the lasting impact they made on their families, caregivers and community. Join us for an unforgettable evening. Tickets are on sale now.

At 90, she’s still got plenty to cheer about — and she makes every weekend count!

Meet Lauretta Sewake. 🌺 UH volleyball fans may recognize her as one of the beloved “Aunties” known for giving lei at every home match. For two decades, she cheered from the stands, but when the pandemic hit, health challenges made it harder to attend games. Through music, Lauretta found a new chapter close to home. She now spends her weekends at Mango Street Grill surrounded by live music, friendship and community.

For Lauretta, what matters most is simple: keep going and enjoy life. Even when life changes, there’s always a reason to smile.

Meet Anne, one of our volunteers who gives caregivers time to recharge while helping preserve the stories, wisdom and memories of those we serve.

“I’m amazed that most of the people that I’m visiting really have a lot of family support. Hawaiʻi has that nuclear family. It’s not like on the mainland. That’s a really special thing to witness.”

Answering the call for Hawaiʻi’s keiki! 📞💙

Our Navian Hawaii team was proud to volunteer at the 20th annual Kapiʻolani Radiothon for Kids. Every donation stays right here in Hawaiʻi, helping support lifesaving care, specialized equipment, innovative programs and compassionate services for keiki and their families.

Mahalo to everyone who gave, volunteered and helped make a difference. We’re honored to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.

Meet Rachel, a Reiki Master who has volunteered with Navian for the past two years. She offers Reiki therapy to patients as a complementary practice alongside their medical care.

Through gentle touch and focused intention, Reiki may help promote relaxation and comfort, ease anxiety, and support overall well-being. While it’s not a cure or a replacement for treatment, many patients find it to be a meaningful part of their care.

For Rachel, volunteering is deeply personal. Having watched many of her own family members go through hospice care, she now gives back by helping others find comfort when they need it most.

Watch her story and learn why compassionate care goes beyond medicine.
