Storyknife A writers residency for women writers outside of Homer, Alaska. Storyknife provides women with a community to support their efforts, lifting their voices.

Overlooking Cook Inlet and the heart-stopping grandeur of the Aleutian Mountain Range, Storyknife Writers Retreat, a literary nonprofit located in Homer, Alaska, hosts residencies for women from Alaska, across the United States, and internationally. APPLY NOW! The de Groot Foundation is honored to sponsor The Koyaanisqatsi Fellowships for the Storyknife Writers Retreat.

Based in Homer, Alaska, StoryKnife hosts residencies for women worldwide to give them the time and space to explore their craft without distraction. In addition to the Koyaanisqatsi Fellowships, there are many other fellowship opportunities for the 2027 season.

The application period for Storyknife Writers Retreat is now open. 2 and 4 week residency slots, April through October 2027. Each writer has their own cabin, all meals are provided, no cost for writers to be in residence. Fellowships and travel stipends available. Apply now!
