Storyknife A writers residency for women writers outside of Homer, Alaska. Storyknife provides women with a community to support their efforts, lifting their voices.

Overlooking Cook Inlet and the heart-stopping grandeur of the Aleutian Mountain Range, Storyknife Writers Retreat, a literary nonprofit located in Homer, Alaska, hosts residencies for women from Alaska, across the United States, and internationally. Our mission is to give women writers the time and space to explore their craft without distraction.

Storyknife is proud to announce that we’re a 2026 general operating grant recipient of the Literary Arts Fund. The Literary Arts Fund announced today $7.7 million in inaugural unrestricted general operating grants to 40 literary arts organizations and publishers spanning 19 states, from Alaska to Florida, that help champion writers and reading, and the essential contributions both make to our culture, communities, and lives.
