THIS SUNDAY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SEE THIS YEAR'S SPECIAL MUSEUM EXHIBITS (October 18th 1-4 PM)
- The HISTORICAL SOCIETY's WHEELER HOUSE at 20 Main Street has a large and fabulous new exhibit centered around the depictions on our town seal- industry, learning and piety, plus a new gift shop area. On exhibit are many of our town's early documents and artifacts.
-The ALWAYS READY ENGINE HOUSE at 26 Main Street- check out the musket used during the Revolutionary War by Thomas Patch of Hollis and a large new exhibit on Hollis during the American Revolution. Visit the "lock-up" on the lower level for a cool photo opportunity.
-The Heritage Commission’s “NOAH DOW COOPER SHOP” will be open 1-3 PM. There were once 40 cooper shops in Hollis and it was a significant winter industry in town.

NEW HAMPSHIRE’S ONE-ROOM SCHOOLS: THE ROMANCE & THE REALITY” (a New Hampshire Humanities program)
presented by Steve Taylor
Hundreds of one-room schools dotted the landscape of New Hampshire a century ago. (Hollis had 14). Revered in literature and lore, these schools were actually beset with problems, some of which are little changed today. The greatest issue was financing and the vast difference between taxing districts in ability to support education. Steve Taylor is a wonderful speaker whom we have had in the past. Don’t miss it!
Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

FIVE HOLLIS MUSEUMS will be open this Sunday October 4 from 1-4 PM - The HISTORICAL SOCIETY's WHEELER HOUSE at 20 Main Street has a large and fabulous new exhibit centered around the depictions on our town seal- industry, learning and piety, plus a new gift shop area. On exhibit are many early documents and artifacts.
Located behind the Wheeler House is the "PETER POWERS CABIN" - a depiction of 1700's life in Hollis.
The 1806 GOULD TAVERN is a fabulous private museum at 28 Main Street and the town’s first post office. This old recreated tavern/store/post office was a stop on the stagecoach route from Massachusetts northward. The museum was recently featured on WMUR’s Chronicle program.

The OLD PINE HILL SCHOOLHOUSE at 69 Ranger Road has fascinating new exhibits this year. Spend an afternoon and see what life was like in early Hollis!
