These words are an excerpt of a letter sent to the Hollis-Brookline Rotary Club about a family's recent experience as a host family. Please read them and consider volunteering to host a student for the coming school year!
***********************************************************************
Hosting Lior made me appreciate my own family more. It reminded me how special it is to gather around a dinner table. It reminded me not to take everyday moments for granted. It helped me see our community through fresh eyes.

Most importantly, it reminded me that the world is so much bigger than our small town. And that's a good thing. There is tremendous value in opening ourselves to different cultures, different ideas, and different experiences. There is tremendous value in welcoming someone into your life who sees the world differently than you do.

If someone asked me whether they should consider hosting an exchange student, my answer would be simple. Do it. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences our family has ever had.

I thought we were opening our home to provide a young man with an American experience. Instead, he became part of our family. He reminded us to be brave. He encouraged us with simple words that carry profound meanings. We opened our home to an exchange student. What we gained was another son.

Do you love dogs?

Do you support helping our incredible veterans overcome the toll that their service often takes on them?

Then join the Hollis-Brookline Rotary Club and Operation Delta Dog as we celebrate this local charity at our Night of Giving at 6 p.m. on June 19 at the Lawrence Barn in Hollis.

Please come to this free event and help us celebrate this great local organization!

Operation Delta Dog is a Hollis-based non-profit that rescues homeless dogs and trains them as service animals for veterans with PTSD, TBI, and MST, providing life-changing support through a comprehensive, long-term training program that partners dogs with veterans in their homes.

All are invited! Please come to see how much support the HB Rotary will give three worthy local causes, celebrate the people doing such great work, and learn about all the other organizations and projects that Rotary is involved with locally, regionally, and internationally!

Many of you know our fellow Hollis Brookline Rotary member, Juliana Rowland, as someone who is constantly giving back to our community. Whether through Rotary, community service projects, youth programs, local news, or countless acts of kindness, Julie embodies what it means to put Service Above Self.

Today, we're asking you to consider supporting her latest fundraising effort. Julie is raising money for a cause that is making a real difference, and every donation—large or small—helps move that mission forward.

If Julie has ever inspired you, supported your community, or simply made your day a little brighter, please consider making a contribution and helping her reach her goal. And her efforts also help support Rotary Club of Hollis-Brookline as well.

Together, we can help amplify the impact of someone who spends so much of her time helping others.
