Our team at Hosanna Community wishes a warm and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmothers, caregivers, and maternal figures who pour so much love into the people around them.

From supporting little ones in their first steps to cheering on teens and adults as they grow more independent, the impact of a mother’s guidance reaches every stage of life. Our independent living community for adults with disabilities is constantly reminded of how deeply family support shapes confidence, belonging, and hope.

This May, our team at Hosanna Community is honoring Mental Health Awareness Month by helping clear up an important distinction: the difference between mental health and mental health conditions.

Understanding this can make it easier to care for ourselves, support the adults with disabilities we serve here in Hixson, and encourage meaningful conversations within our community.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

💚 Mental health is something everyone has. It reflects our emotional, psychological, and social well-being and affects how we think, feel, and act each day.

💚 Mental health conditions are specific, diagnosable disorders such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD. More than half of people will receive a diagnosis at some point in their lives.

💚 Good mental health and mental illness can coexist. With the right support, treatment, and daily routines, many people experience strong mental well-being while managing a condition.

💚 Poor mental health doesn’t always mean illness. Stress, burnout, grief, or life transitions can affect well-being even without a diagnosis.

💚 Taking care of your mental health matters. Small practices like journaling, deep breathing, movement, creative activities, or spending time with loved ones can make a real difference.

💚 Professional support is always an option. Therapy and counseling can benefit anyone, including the adults with disabilities who call Hosanna Community home.

Our residents had a wonderful Easter weekend. A big thank you to the WOW ladies of Burning Bush Baptist Church for the treat bags. A big thank you to our weekend shift Taynna and Constance for the Egg Hunt and prizes and all the extra you both did to ensure the residents had a good time celebrating Easter. We have the best staff.
