"A Soldier's Journey Home" was started after years of volunteerism and dedication to this great country.

A Soldier's Journey Home (ASJH) is a group of volunteers primarily comprised of current and retired Firefighters, Police Officers, Emergency Medical Personnel and retired Military Veterans from more than fourteen states. Over the past 15 years, they have worked on a variety of disaster relief construction projects and now focus their charitable efforts toward severely injured veterans.

At A Soldier's Journey Home we strive to make a disabled service member's dreams become reality. We are a group of volunteers who ignite a community to build a home specially adapted for a service member with disabilities. Our goal is to have the community come together to help those who have given so much of themselves for our Country.

For Brooklyn Williamson, A Soldier’s Journey Home has never been just another organization she volunteers with - it has become part of her family’s story.

Brooklyn serves as ASJH’s Treasurer, but her connection to service runs much deeper. Her father is a veteran and firefighter, and her husband now serves as one of our construction leads. When Brooklyn and her husband first began volunteering with ASJH, they were just dating. Years later, their wedding brought together ASJH volunteers from across the country - a perfect example of the friendships and family this mission creates.

Brooklyn has given countless hours behind the scenes helping keep this organization moving forward, while continuing to show up for our veterans, volunteers, and families year after year.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Brooklyn brings to ASJH and proud to recognize her as our Volunteer of the Month.

What a night at the West Falls Center for the Arts.

On the eve of Nathan receiving the keys to his new home, The Resilient performed a special show just for the volunteers of A Soldier’s Journey Home.

After nearly three weeks of hard work building Nathan and Veronica’s forever home, it was an incredible opportunity for our volunteers to come together, enjoy amazing food from the Kingsmen Social Club, listen to some incredible live music, and simply enjoy the camaraderie that makes ASJH so special.

A huge thank you to Tim, Dom, and Greg for making the trip to Western New York and giving our volunteers a night they will not forget.

And an especially heartfelt thank you to the Panzica family for making this entire evening possible.

Congratulations to our friends at WIVB-TV Channel 4 on winning the New York Serving Broadcasters Award for their coverage of our build in May for Spc. Nathan Kalwicki.

It was a pleasure and an honor to have your support from the moment we arrived in town and first shared our story with you. Thank you for believing in our mission, for helping us tell Nathan’s story, and for sharing it with all of Western New York.

A special thank you to Nathan, along with Bryan and Kathy Wittman, for representing ASJH with pride at the awards luncheon.

We miss you, Western New York, and we’ll see you again soon. Congratulations to the entire WIVB-TV Channel 4 team on a well-deserved honor!

Every build is made possible by people who are willing to give their time, their talents, and a whole lot of heart.

This month, we’re proud to highlight Chris Jensen of New York. Chris has been a staple within ASJH for years and is the kind of volunteer who is always willing to step in, work hard, support the team, and do whatever is needed to help move the mission forward.

Chris is also one of our ASJH volunteers who was serving with the FDNY on September 11 and answered the call that day. As we reflect on that history this month, it makes recognizing Chris and his continued commitment to serving others especially meaningful.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Chris as part of the ASJH family. His experience, sense of humor, willingness to help, and steady presence make us a stronger team.

Today, we remember.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, the service members who answered the call in the years that followed, and the countless Americans who came together in a moment of unimaginable tragedy.

We also remember those who, 25 years later, continue to battle cancers, respiratory illnesses, and other 9/11-related conditions as a result of their service and exposure.

For A Soldier’s Journey Home, this day carries an especially personal meaning. Among our fellowship are firefighters and volunteers who were there on September 11 and in the days and months that followed. Their experiences, their service, and the generosity they witnessed from communities across this country became part of the foundation of what would eventually grow into ASJH.

To our volunteers who were there, to every first responder who answered the call, to every veteran who served because of that day, and to every family who carries its loss:

We remember you. We honor you. We will never forget.

West Falls Center of the Arts (WFCA) served as our home base throughout this past build for so many reasons and events. This incredible venue has a long history in West Falls and has served as a pillar of the community in one form or another for more than a century.

WFCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to encouraging creative collaboration through music while serving military veterans, first responders, children and adolescents, caregivers, and individuals and families impacted by dementia.

One of the programs that really stood out to us is their Veteran and First Responder Guitar and Ukulele Program, which begins again this October. More than 30 veterans and first responders travel from as far as an hour away each Thursday to take part in the classes, enjoy the music, and - just as importantly - the camaraderie.

The group also performs throughout the year, and during our 716 Build they graciously provided the music and atmosphere for one of ASJH’s longest-standing traditions: Jambalaya Night. They helped make an already special evening even more memorable.

We are incredibly grateful to the Panzica family for allowing A Soldier’s Journey Home to call West Falls Center of the Arts our home throughout the 716 Build and for leaving their doors open to us every step of the way.

When amazing people in a community embrace our organization, incredible things can happen - and West Falls is a perfect example of that.

Pennsylvania showed up once again for A Soldier’s Journey Home!

Last weekend’s 3rd Annual ASJH Benefit at Boyer Cellars was a huge success, reaching its fundraising goal and bringing together an incredible community in support of our mission.

A special thank you to Boyer Cellars for hosting, all of the bands and musicians who donated their time and talent, and especially ASJH volunteer Jim Locke for organizing the event and continuing to carry the ASJH mission back into his Pennsylvania community.

The day was made even more special with Retired Army Specialist Nathan Kalwicki, one of our past recipients, there to experience it alongside everyone. There’s something pretty powerful about seeing a past recipient standing with the people helping make the next home possible.

To everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, donated, sponsored, or supported the event - THANK YOU!

This is how the mission grows, and this is how the next home gets built.

Members made the long drive from Louisiana to West Falls, New York, to help support us build a home for retired Army Specialist Nathan Kalwicki and his wife, Veronica. Once they arrived, they did what they do best: brought people together through great food, fellowship, and service.

To everyone at The Kingsmen Social Club: thank you for continuing to believe in our mission, traveling across the country to serve, and becoming part of the ASJH family.

What an unforgettable weekend at the 2026 Pigott Family Pig Roast!

Year after year, the Pigott family brings people together to celebrate faith, family, freedom, and the spirit of giving back. We were honored to be part of another incredible weekend celebrating Joe Pigott’s upcoming 60th birthday alongside the FDNY, amazing family & friends, and so many proud Americans who continue to support our nation's heroes.

A special highlight was having 2026 A Soldier's Journey Home recipient Nathan Kalwicki and his wife, Veronica, join us for the festivities. Spending time with them reminds us why our mission matters - to ensure our wounded veterans know that their sacrifices are remembered, appreciated, and never forgotten.

The addition of live music made an already outstanding weekend even more memorable.

To the Pigott family, thank you for your unwavering generosity, friendship, and continued support of A Soldier's Journey Home.
