The Highlands Cashiers Health Foundation was established on February 1, 2019 as a 501(C)3 public charity to improve the health and well-being of Highlands, Cashiers, and the surrounding communities. Together with generous donors, the Foundation aims to make positive and lasting change by supporting health-related projects and programs in the communities we serve.

September is Hunger Action Month – a time to turn care for our neighbors into practical support.

Here on the Highlands Cashiers Plateau, you can help by:
• Donating shelf-stable food and household essentials – items such as peanut butter, cereal, rice, beans, soup, canned tuna, diapers, toilet paper, and hygiene supplies are among needs listed locally.
• Giving funds, which lets food-relief partners respond to changing needs.
• Volunteering your time to sort, stock, pack, or distribute food.
• Sharing this post and encouraging a friend, workplace, club, or congregation to organize a collection.

The Highlands Food Pantry, Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, and Highlands Emergency Council all help neighbors across our Plateau. A small action can help put healthy food and essential supplies within reach.

Take action this September: donate, volunteer, share, and help nourish our community.

Access to better health means more than an appointment. It means access to care, coverage, and the financial stability that helps families prioritize their well-being.

Across our rural mountain communities, the gaps are real: Macon County has one primary-care physician for every 1,790 people; about 1 in 7 residents is uninsured; and there were 10,000 patient visits in the clinic’s first three years.

Highlands Cashiers Health Foundation supports local initiatives and healthcare grants that help meet these challenges – so more of our neighbors can access the care and resources they need to thrive.

Together, we can build a healthier Plateau.

Access to care shouldn’t depend on income, language, or circumstance. Yet for many in our region, those barriers are a daily reality.

Through partnerships like this, we are helping create spaces where individuals are seen, understood, and cared for — with dignity and compassion. Your support makes this work possible.

We are proud to support Community Care Clinic in expanding access to free, essential medical care for low-income and uninsured patients.

Through primary care, urgent care, medication assistance, behavioral health counseling, specialty services, and more, CCC helps patients receive the care they need before health concerns become emergencies. This partnership reflects our commitment to removing barriers and strengthening health across our communities.
