PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Discussions about what to do with the Seaside Lagoon to create a year-round, multigenerational, ocean-like playground have been going on for years, and a decision may be made soon by The Redondo Beach Harbor Commission and ultimately the City Council.

Above is a rendering of a proposed wave pool that will be presented to the Harbor Commission on 9/14, and if embraced by the commission, it will then be proposed to the City Council on 9/15.

Both meetings are open to the public, taking place at RB City Hall, and each provide the public an opportunity to share their opinion within a 3 minute time allowance. If you want to share your opinion but unable to make the meetings, you can email the Mayor and Councilmembers and find their addresses on the city website.

We’re excited to finally celebrate the new Catalina Classic plaque in Manhattan Beach!

A big thank you to the City of Manhattan Beach, South Bay Boardriders Club Classic Committee, all donors, and X31 Creations for creativly helping bring this special piece of Catalina Classic history to life.

Tis the season - T minus 11 days until the Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race - the most historic and most decorated paddleboard race in the world. Kick off the weekend on 8/27 at 5pm by joining us for the dedication of the Catalina Classic Statue plaque down on the strand, then check out some amazing images from years past up the street at Culture Brewing Co SD+LA|CA. Iconic images from Brian Kingston DONALD MIRALLE Tony Wodarck and more. Prints, gifts and more will be auctioned off at the link in bio.

If you are new to paddleboarding and maybe don’t want to take on a 32mi channel crossing off the couch, join us at Manhattan Pier for a short 2mi ripper - race starts at 9am and the fastest paddlers crossing the channel should be finishing just after the 2mi race ends. Watching the best paddleboarders in the world cross the finish line at MB Pier after grinding out 32 open ocean miles is a sight to behold - it’s emotional, inspiring, and downright special - come witness the culmination of paddle season as the best in the world attempt to etch their names into the history books.

Banner’s up — 13 days to go!

Our crew got the Catalina Classic banner hung over Manhattan Beach Blvd this morning, and every time it goes up it means the same thing: race week is close.

Mark it down — Sunday, August 30th, 11am–3pm at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Come watch paddlers finish 32 miles across open ocean from Catalina Island, one of the toughest endurance events in the sport, and one of the most iconic finish lines in Southern California.

The harbor’s gone. The boats are specks. It’s just water in every direction now. 🌊

This is mile 15-ish of the Catalina Classic — no crowd, no cheering, just one paddler and a whole lot of blue between here and the mainland. This is the part of the race nobody sees.

Watch it unfold live on August 30, 2026. Race starts 6:00 AM PDT, stream picks up at 7:00 AM PDT.
