Katreena, affectionately known as Treena and Brandi, was born May 22,1980 to Jasper and Lois Pendergrass, who are natives of Hartsville, S.C. She was the sister of Vincent, Anthony, Jasper Jr., and Tracie.
Katreena attended Apple Grove Elementary School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, for one year. At age seven, she entered the Math/Science Magnet Program at Owens Road Elementary School in Oxon Hill, MD, where she was an honor roll student. She continued the Magnet Program at Gwynn Park Middle School in Brandywine,MD, maintaining her honor roll recognition. Katreena graduated in May 1998 from Oxon Hill High School, where she was a member of the Math /Science Magnet Program, the Gospel Choir, Expressions Mentoring Program and a member of the Honor Society. She was among the Who’s Who in High School Academics, and received the Academic Excellence Award from Prince Georges County, MD. Katreena graduated with a 3.59 GPA . In September 1998, Katreena matriculated into Howard University as a Business Administration major. She completed her freshman year. On July 22, 1999, Katreena lost her life in an automobile accident.
