One of the best parts of the Warrior Clay Classic wasn’t just the shooting, the camaraderie, or the competition.

It was meeting incredible veterans who have turned their own challenges into missions that help others.

One of those veterans was Connor Secor, a Navy veteran and the founder of Thumos.

Connor spent the day doing what veterans do best: showing up for other veterans.

He wasn’t just handing out samples. He was having conversations, sharing experiences, listening to stories, and participating alongside everyone else on the range.

Thumos was built with a mission to help address some of the challenges many veterans face, including the effects of traumatic brain injuries and improving the gut-to-brain connection—an area of health that is gaining more attention for its impact on overall wellness, performance, and quality of life.

What stood out wasn’t just the product.

It was the passion.

Veterans helping veterans.
One conversation at a time.
One connection at a time.

That’s what events like the Warrior Clay Classic are all about.

We bring together people from different branches, backgrounds, careers, and experiences, only to discover that we’re all still chasing the same thing:

🇺🇸 “I Found My Place Again.” 🇺🇸

Sometimes the biggest victory isn’t breaking the most clays, scoring the most goals, or crossing the finish line first.

Sometimes the biggest victory is simply finding a place where you belong.

Recently, we had the opportunity to hear from JC Goetz, a Marine and Soldier who shared his perspective on the Warrior Clay Classic, the Veteran Social Club, and the power of reconnecting with a community that understands the military experience.

For many veterans, leaving the service means leaving behind something that is difficult to describe to those who haven’t lived it: the daily camaraderie, the shared mission, the sense of purpose, and the feeling that you’re part of something bigger than yourself.

At the Warrior Clay Classic, JC didn’t just see a shotgun tournament.

He saw veterans laughing together.
He saw civilians standing shoulder-to-shoulder with those who served.
He saw friendships forming.
He saw stories being shared.
He saw a community.

Most importantly, he felt that familiar feeling many veterans spend years searching for after taking off the uniform:

Belonging.

That’s why we do this.

Not just for the clays.
Not just for the hockey.
Not just for the events.

We do it because every veteran deserves a place where they can show up exactly as they are and immediately know they’re among friends.

A place where nobody has to explain their service.
A place where stories are understood.
A place where camaraderie isn’t just a word—it’s a lifeline.

Today is Armed Forces Day — a day set aside to honor the men and women currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

At the Veteran Social Club, we know that service comes with something powerful: camaraderie. The shared laughs, the long days, the inside jokes, the hard moments, the people who just get it.

And we also know how important it is to keep that connection alive.

For those still serving, thank you for carrying the watch. For our veterans, we remember what that bond felt like — and we believe it should not disappear when the uniform comes off.

That is why VSC exists.

We build spaces where veterans, service members, families, and supporters can come together without the awkwardness, without the forced small talk, and without anyone having to explain why camaraderie matters.
