And thus it begins! December 30, 2023, one more day until the year ends and next year will mark three years since our oldest son passed away, way too soon!
Over my years I have had a great career and lost it due to injury, doing the right thing. No worries, I continued on.
I grew up without a dad as mine passed when I was only 7, yet my mom was ALWAYS there and taught me right!
Many who see my home THINK I am rich, I am NOT! I am lucky and fortunate.
23 years ago I left my home state and place of birth and raising, California which will always be HOME for me, but I will NEVER return as it is NO LONGER the same California.
I was born in Oakland California. I patrolled Oakland California and more. I am proud to have done so and dedicated my career to help others less fortunate, knowing I may NOT return home to MY family.
CONCLUSION: Our oldest son Eyan, born Richard Eryan Woods, became my son at the young age of 2.5 years old. He was SO defiant, but ALWAYS called me DAD as I was there! NOT the step dad, BUT the DAD that stepped up!
He often told me and his regular words; "you are stupid", yet he was ALWAYS there when ANYONE needed him, although HE was hurting.
Life dealt him a sh*tty hand as an adult. Peer pressure, etc. With such, he spent some time on the streets and tunnels of Las Vegas. NOT an easy thing to think about as a parent.
Whereas God called him home way too early for us, almost three years ago, THAT and THIS, MY MISSION, to do what I can for those who live ON the streets.
Again I have patrolled them and had to uphold the law, BUT if I can make any difference,...... THIS!
Take what I have, obtain bicycles, convert and create mobile living habitats for those homeless, in HIS memory, and there is NOTHING in it for me, but to HELP.
To perhaps provide for that homeless person sleeping on the street with NOTHING.. To provide a mobile home whereas WHEN and it will be when they are told to MOVE ON, they can pedal away with all they have with a hope for a safe nights rest with the belongings they have and cherish.
So the images, phase one of the Eyan Frades Foundaton.
Should anyone have any bicycles, old or new that they want to go to a great cause,. please let me know.
