Last week, our Grants Manager, Sara, and CEO Charlene made a trip to Marysville to meet with a local non profit and learn more about the work happening in the community.

With our next grant application period opening in November, now is a great time to start thinking about your next history project!

If you have a project in mind and aren’t sure if it’s a good fit, have questions about the application, or just want to talk through an idea, reach out to Sara. She’s here to help!

More information about our 2027 grant cycle will be coming soon.

Last weekend, we had the privilege of spending time together with our Board of Directors at Adel, the Sieben Livestock Ranch.

Standing on that land, surrounded by the history of the Sieben family and the generations who have called Montana home, was a special reminder of just how many stories make up the history of this state. It was a chance to slow down, listen, learn, and appreciate the places and people that came before us.

We left Adel feeling inspired and grateful for the work we get to do every day to help preserve Montana’s history in all its many forms.

And that work would not be possible without the incredible support of our Board of Directors, both past and present. We are deeply grateful for the time, knowledge, passion, and commitment they give to The Foundation and to Montana’s history.

To our board, thank you for believing in this work and for continuing to show up for Montana’s history. We are lucky to have you in our corner.

The Unionville community came together Saturday to celebrate a major milestone: the completed restoration of their historic schoolhouse.

Saving this special piece of local history was truly a community effort, and The Foundation was proud to help along the way with grants in 2013 and 2023. Foundation funds helped stabilize the structure and restore the siding, ensuring the schoolhouse will stand strong for another 100 years!

Join us in welcoming Amy to The Foundation for Montana History as our Administrative Specialist!

One of her favorite places in Montana is Fort Benton, where she loves exploring stories ranging from the “bloodiest block in the West” to the mystery surrounding the death of Governor Thomas Francis Meagher.

She’s also enjoys the uniqueness of the Nez Perce National Historical Trail, with the Big Hole and Bear Paw battlefields among her favorite stops. When she’s not exploring Montana, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, board games, art, music, and spending time with her family and dogs, Murphy and Sully.

We are so excited to have her on board! Welcome Amy!
