Retired Chief Maness was recognized for his many years of service to the Blood Cancer United Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle including the East Helena Volunteer Fire Department being recognized for raising $100,000 over the last 12 years.

12 years. Nearly $57,000 raised. Inspired fire departments across Montana to raise more than $1 million dollars.

Those numbers are a part of Troy Maness' story—but that's not the whole thing. 📖

For over a decade, Troy has been a mentor, ambassador, fundraiser, and friend to countless members of the Firefighter Stairclimb community. Whether encouraging a first-time climber or working alongside our 2026 Volunteer of the Year, his wife Lynn, he has always led with humility and purpose. As Troy retires from the Stairclimb, we simply want to say THANK YOU. Your impact will be felt for years to come, and you'll always be part of the Blood Cancer United family. ❤️

Tonight was one the nights a Chief loves to have. I had the honor of awarding F/F EMT Zion Smith with the 2025 Firefighter of the year. Zion has been an absolute joy to have as a member of our department. A dedicated, hard working person willing to always jump in to help. Congratulations Zion and we are proud to have you as a member of our team.
