The primary objective of Big Hearts is to coordinate fully outfitted and guided trips to meet the dreams and needs of deserving families nationwide.

115 families served since 2007 | providing fully outfitted, healing Montana adventures for the families of veterans, first responders, and children with life threatening illnesses - at NO COST to the family Big Hearts under the Big Sky is a charitable organization that provides military service men and women, first responders, and children who face the challenge of a life threatening illness, the opportunity to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Montana outdoor adventure at no cost. This offers them an opportunity to reconnect as a family in the best place to create memories that will last a lifetime - under the Big Sky. With your help, Big Hearts can continue to "make a difference, one family at a time"

Today is National First Responders Day

We want to say thank you to the brave men and women who answer the call 24/7 to keep our communities safe, and give special recognition to 2025 Big Hearts trip recipient, Lewis Johnson.

Lewis’s passion for serving others began at a young age as he joined the Montana Army National guard as a junior in high school. He continued that commitment to service when he joined the Montana Highway Patrol in 2014.
In 2023, Lewis’s life changed forever when he was injured on duty. While attempting to apprehend a felon, he was run over, resulting in paralysis from the chest down.

Big Hearts had the honor of taking Lewis, his family, including his trooper partner who provided life-saving aid on the day of the incident, on a fully guided elk hunt and luxurious stay at West Creek Ranch in Emigrant, MT.
Lewis’ story is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices first responders make everyday to protect others. To Lewis and all first responders, THANK YOU.💙
