Community Partners in Action Through our programs, we provide a long-term impact that positively transforms individuals and society at large.

Community Partners in Action's programs include reentry and housing, youth initiatives, a nationally recognized Prison Arts Program, and holistic alternatives to incarceration. One of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country, Community Partners in Action (CPA) was founded nearly 150 years ago as a reentry agency to champion criminal justice reform and advocate for preserving the dignity of those in and out of prison. Annually serving nearly 7,000 individuals throughout CT, our work is possible due to partnerships with and support from individuals, government, private funders, organizations, and businesses. Our programs are located in Hartford, Waterbury, Manchester, and Hamden CT, and in CT Prisons statewide.

Last week we took a little time out for some important team bonding and gathered at our Manchester AIC for our third annual Co****le Championship. It was a great way to connect with each other, play, and celebrate our people and the work they do every day for the many thousands of individuals we serve across Connecticut. We could not do it without our amazing staff! ❤

We're pleased to welcome Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas from the Connecticut Secretary of the State's Office and the ACLU of Connecticut, who will be sharing information about voting rights, voter registration, early voting, absentee voting, and civic engagement.

Whether you're looking to register, learn more about your rights, or get involved in the democratic process, this workshop is a great opportunity to connect with valuable resources and ask questions.

An informed voter is an empowered voter. We hope to see you there!

Yesterday, CPA staff and board members came together for an all-day strategic planning retreat to map out our next three years. We want to thank Andrea Hawkins, CEO of Leading Culture Solutions, for guiding us through this process and helping us take what we have learned from surveys and focus groups and put into best practice with an actionable plan. Our goal is not to change the values that have guided CPA for more than 150 years. It is to strengthen the systems and capacity that will allow our mission to continue growing and succeeding well into the future.

📣We were so excited to recently join with our friends at Travelers Championship, Aetna and Webster Bank and a host of community partners and charities for the Birdies for Charity check presentation. This year marked our first time taking part and thanks to our generous Board members and donors, we raised $18,245 plus an additional $2,736 in "Bonus Bucks" with the sponsorships of Webster Bank and Aetna, bringing our campaign total to $20,981.

As our Executive Director, Beth Hines, shared: "Being at the Travelers Championship gave us an opportunity to have some fun while talking with people about criminal justice, reentry and the work happening every day in communities across Connecticut. Most importantly, Birdies made us feel like we were part of something bigger: a community of nonprofits coming together through one of Connecticut’s signature events. We will be back next year!!"

It's events like this that bring the power of nonprofits together with everyday people for the purpose of giving and information sharing. We are grateful to everyone involved, especially our amazing donors. ❤
