A true home...🏘

The members of Temple Beth Hillel, South Windsor CT have continued to step up for our community!

Because of their ongoing collections, 3 more of our clients who are soon-to-be-housed and connected to us through our Supportive Housing and Homeless Outreach programs, will receive large bins full of needed household goods, from cleaning supplies and home decor, to all sorts of kitchenware, like pots, pans, cups, bowls and more!

Since 2025, this generous group has now sponsored over a DOZEN of our folks who were newly housed. We are so honored for their assistance in helping our neighbors turn their new places into a true "home". 🤝💓

Did you happen to catch Hartford's annual Riverfront Dragon Boat & Asian Festival this past weekend? 🐉🚣🏽‍♀️

Well if you did, you would have seen our friends from the Riverfront Recapture Dragonboat Paddlers' TEAM HUNGERSLAYERS" slay not only some of the competition, but their fundraising efforts! 💲⚔

Over the course of just a few weeks, they collected close to 750 lbs of food and $260 in gift cards to support our MANNA Community Pantry! Amazing!

We're so honored they chose Hands On Hartford as their benefiting charity and it goes without saying that they slayyyyy!

We are hearing RAVE reviews already about the 3 brand new, INCREDIBLE dishes we added to our Gather55 evening menu, created by our August guest chef, Chef Roshara Sanders of the Culinary Institute of America!

Her dishes will be featured all month long and a full menu can be found at www.gather55.com.

We appreciate your support, as funds raised through our restaurant are reinvested into our mission to support our free and reduced-price meals program, for those in need, along with our Food Access, Homless Outreach, Homeless Prevention and Neighborhood Services programs.

Be sure to stop by, make a reservation, or order to-go! Thank you for supporting local and investing in your !

What an incredibly memorable evening!

Our Faces of Homelessness Speakers' Bureau had the distinct honor of connecting with parishioners of St. Paul Parish Kensington CT for a special evening of enlightenment and connection.

Our longtime Speaker, Rosemary Rainey, shared her inspiring story of hardships, trauma and ultimate resiliency from her time living on the streets and showcased how she evolved into one of Hartford's beloved caretakers of our unhoused neighbors.

HOH staff Kelly Dougherty shared background on HOH, the latest state data on homelessness and provided guidance on ways attendees could support the cause.

We are so grateful that this wonderful group was so receptive and interested in further supporting our mission.

Thank you goes to Parish Council member Nancy DePalma, for spearheading this event, and the Parish Council and Social Action Committee for supporting it and helping getting the word out.

We are overjoyed by the positive responses and look forward to our future collaborations!

Last week, we bid a bittersweet farewell to our beloved Community Engagement Program Coordinator, Brianna, as she wrapped up her final week at Hands On Hartford before heading to graduate school this fall.

When Bri joined us 2½ years ago, we knew we had found someone special. What we couldn't have imagined was just how profoundly she would impact our volunteers, community partners, staff, and the organization as a whole.

She built genuine relationships that strengthened our community, inspired generous support for our mission, and made our volunteers feel welcomed and valued. The outpouring of love and gratitude following her announcement truly said it all.

From coordinating hundreds of volunteers and leading some of our signature events, to sharing meaningful stories through our newsletters and social media, Bri always led with authenticity, compassion, and purpose.

Her creativity, sense of humor, big heart, bright smile, iconic hair and even her spontaneous dance moves & office serenades will truly be missed.

As we celebrate Bri, we're reminded that a person's greatest impact isn't measured only by what they accomplish, but by the lives they touch and the connections they create.

Thank you, Brianna, for helping make Hands On Hartford a more connected and impactful community. We will miss you dearly, but we can't wait to see all you'll accomplish in this next chapter, which we know will be so much. 💚

Our newest volunteer, Natalie, made some beautiful flower and herb arrangements with today's garden harvest of cosmos, marigolds, zinnia, lavender and thyme. 🌼🌸💐

We'll be gifting these cheery bouquets to our pantry participants to help brighten an otherwise dreary day! A special treat for our valued visitors indeed! 💗

This group truly brought the best for our neighbors this month!

We teamed up with our new friends at Access Health CT for a full day of impact.

👉First, a dozen of their staff (including their CEO‼️) volunteered their time serving in our restaurant and Community Pantry. Their good energy, hard work, and team spirit were immediately evident to everyone here. 💜💚

👉They then had the opportunity to learn about the impact HOH makes daily and how their contributions were supporting our mission through a special in-depth tour of HOH.

👉After, they enjoyed a delicious catered lunch provided by our Gather55 restaurant.

👉Finally, they rounded out the day with 2 special presentations from our Faces of Homelessness Speakers Bureau and channeled their good energy through generously donating and packing a whopping 180 high-protein snack kits for our unhoused neighbors.

👉Oh, and did we mention? Throughout the day, some of their staff educated our restaurant guests about affordable state health insurance options, helping to bridge the gap in health equity.

Woo! We are SO grateful for this incredible new and dedicated . Thank you Access Health CT!
