Donated supplies will benefit classrooms across the 860 region, helping foster productive learning this academic year so local students succeed in school and beyond. Together, we can ensure that a child's zip code does not determine their access to school supplies.

The Shops at Evergreen Walk is hosting its annual Back to School BASH on Friday, and Channel 3 is teaming up with Evergreen Walk and United Way to help local kids get ready for the school year.

August is – a time to honor the generosity, leadership, and impact of Black in our communities. Today we’re recognizing Thomas Anderson, Superintendent, East Hartford Public Schools.

“My philanthropy has been inspired by many people, including family members, educators, coaches, mentors, and community leaders who invested in me long before I fully understood the impact of their investment. They gave their time, their guidance, their expectations, and their belief. In many cases, they did not have unlimited financial resources, but they gave what mattered most including consistency, encouragement, accountability, and care.”

A graduate of East Hartford Public Schools and currently a member of United Way’s Board of Directors, Anderson believes deeply in the power of schools to change the direction of a young person’s life.
