Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while learning a valuable new skill? The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is calling for volunteers! VITA offers free tax preparation services to individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes (earning less than $68,000 annually). As a certified IRS volunteer, you'll help prepare simple tax returns and screen clients for important tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Retirement Savings Contribution Credit (Saver's Credit)—which can significantly support families.

By volunteering with VITA, you'll gain hands-on skills, build your network, and deepen your understanding of the tax system, all while making a positive impact on your community.

VITA tax season is well underway and we have been operating hybrid for quite some time now and we can all agree that we all miss the traditional in-person, face-to-face tax prep! So, this year we would like to bring back events that bring our community together such as the Super Refund Saturday!

Happening Today! IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers open on special Saturdays for face-to-face help. If someone has a question(s) about a tax bill or an IRS audit, or needs help resolving a tax problem, they will receive assistance from IRS employees specializing in these services. If these employees are not available, the individual will receive a referral for these services.

To arrive prepared, individuals should bring the following information:

-Current government-issued photo identification,
-Social Security cards and/or ITIN numbers for members of their household, including spouse and dependents (if applicable) and
-Any IRS letters or notices received and related documents.

During the visit, IRS staff may also request the following information:

-A current mailing address,
-An email address and
-Bank account information, to receive payments or refunds by direct deposit.
